And a bigger car. Which is ok if that's what you want.

lol

how about
09 = Mazda 5 (minus sliding door)
07/08 = hatchback

jk, both are great models. The biggest thing I keep hearing is the 07/08 models feel like a more sporty and nimble car to drive. Read any of the new reviews by motortrend.com or caranddriver.com and this is one thing they mention.

I think the new car looks pretty sweet though, much more aggressive. But the older style has really grown on me and you won't see me selling mine anytime soon! With such a short production run the GD3 is going to be a much sought after car in a couple of years.

If your dumb enough to call the 07 and 08 vintage models, you belong with the 09 crowd. That simple.

The GD-series Fits/Jazzes are "vintage" if you bought them anywhere else but the US since they were around since late 2001.

Anyhow, the GE8 does trump the GD1/3 in terms of seats and comfort, in my opinion - the newer car's seats are a little more comfortable (although that seat squab is still an inch or two too damn short on both cars, and I'm just 5'8").

Other than that, I can't really find anything to recommend one over the other. The two Fit generations are still pretty similar at their core, even down to the peppy way they ride and drive - I'm saying this is a good thing! Do try a test drive of both and see what fits the bill for you.

I have an 09 but love GD's. They're both awesome cars and everyone has a different opinion. I'm sure more people will like GEs once the aftermarket parts start coming out. I'm glad the GE hate isn't as bad as it used too, I thought this thread was gonna be a disaster. Props to GD peoples

Are you a "modder"? do you like to tweak and play with your ride? Thats the type of person I am, so the GD3 was better suited to me. I like the GE8, don't get me wrong, it's a great car. After all, it's a Honda. It has all the great standard features as the GD3, plus more options, new styling, etc. etc. But, good luck (for the time being) for finding a good variety of GE8 specific performance aftermarket stuff. Heck it seems like even wheels are hard to come by in the right offsets.
But in the end, do what you want - both are going to provide you with the same thing, mostly, out the door - if you get a great deal on a GE8 do it, if you can get a good used GD3 for less, do it. Let's face it, for most of us money and price is a big factor nowadays.

Its only been out for a couple months though as to where the GD's been out for years. I'm sure the aftermarket will pick up for the GEs and they'll be just as many parts for it available soon.

Yea, my car is a 07' model (got it in 06) and it took me two years to get (nearly) all the parts out there mod my car.

Its still not complete yet... believe it or not (no money and got a family now). And I think by the time my fit is done, there will be plenty of parts for GE.
