I'm a Brit working in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and have been hiring a Jazz 1.5ltr cvt auto for the last 4 months, the car's that good i've decided to buy one (US$14700) alloy wheels, fogs, leather steering wheel. Resale value is important cause I don't know how long ill be here and nobody seems to know if / when the 09 might arrive here.... anyone have any ideas ?cause i don't want the value to tank with the new one coming on the market.? oh ill try not to p*ss every one off too much but i filled up today US $11.71 from empty!

If you are going to bring it back to the UK, I can't really tell you about resale value. Over here, some people have been reselling their '07 or '08 Fits for almost the cost of a new one, so there has been no drop in value at all. They are good cars and some people prefer the look of the previous gen to the new ones, so you will always have some buyers if you keep your car clean and relatively low mileage.

Enjoy the cheap gasoline over there and stay safe, and save your money for when you leave and go back home! Working in the oil biz are you?

gasoline is actually really expensive in middle eastern countries because they have to import it from other countries since they can't refine it. the reason why it is so cheap is because most of that cost is paid for by their governments

doubt id bring it back the uk, but that as I tend to keep my cars a long time it may well be a good option. Not in the oil biz, work on the ground for an airline been looking at all sorts of cars but i just can't see the point of a massive gaz guzzler just for a very short commute and trips into town / the shops. Traffics a bit of a mare here and the diminutive jazz is just such a hoot to really rag in heavy traffic. The ones here are all the 1.5 121 hp version which I don't think have ever been sold in the UK, would there be any demand for that? obviously it's a left hooker which would be less than ideal when i get back to the old country.

Oh, I didn't know you drive American-style in the UAE! So would you just sell it if/when you get transferred? Well, of course, your original question WAS about resale value, wasn't it? <slaps own forehead> duh!! I'd check around with people there and see if there is any demand for the Jazz...as a resale. Do you have a car now? Do you really need a car? I guess all those things have to be considered....the hassle of having to sell it when you leave, etc. However if you KNOW you will be there for several more years, then why not? It's a great little car and lots of fun to drive.

They all drive like idiots here, tbh i would have liked just to have a motorcycle as i dont know how long i want my Arabian adventure to last and I love my bikes, however the drivings so aggressive i'd like to see a few more years without being in a wheelchair so hence reluctantly the car thing. Ive had a jazz for a rental for the last 4 months and i've been so impressed it ive decided to get one, what has been worrying me a little is they only have the old one, and although the dealer says they're no plans to upgrade to the new version yet (it gets pretty dam hot here so 130 deg f plus in summer so the specs are different from northern hemisphere ones and probably are not ready yet) i dont know if i 100% believe him. Really need a car though, there is no alternative public transport and get in a taxi... your signing your death certificate!! I'll take some pics of my new one when she arrives at the end of the week, i dont think ill show you the rental, she's not seen a car wash for over 4 months, oh heck just for a laugh ill post some pics later........

If yours doesn't come with the windows tinted, get them done ASAP!!! In that kind of heat you need dark tinting!

So you can still get a new '08 over there, eh? They are pretty much gone over here. I had to scramble and I was fortunate to find the color I wanted with only 1,000 miles on it.
