and while I was waiting, I went to look at the 09 Sport auto w/ navi SSM they had on the lot when I noticed 2 used 08's in the used section.
I went to check those out and was shocked.
Both were 2008 Sports, one owner, and honda certified:
08 VBP 5 speed - 9100 mi, 30% tint on all windows - $20,100
08 SSM Auto - 8000mi - $19500

But a salesman came out and talked to me and on the spot he guaranteed me $17000 for my fit if I wanted to trade up to an 09! I wish he hadn't told me that because I really want to now! Especially considering I only owe 14,000 on mine.

Thats a good deal 17,000 for it. My dealer here tryed to give me 13,000 for mine. I kept it for that price. But yes the dealers seem to be selling the fits for a lot i guess because of gas prices every body flocks to these cars right now with the economy
thought most of you folks buy these cars to be economical.
drive the car until it falls apart, dont let some car salesman talk you into
going further into debt for their benefit. lol

The dealer offered me the 09 for $50 over msrp. Considering that he offered me 17,000 for a car that I only owe 14,000 on, and bought for $16,500, I think its a hell of a deal!!!
I would do it, but I really doubt I would get financing with the same terms I have now. My credit score has dropped about 40 points since I bought my fit.
I currently have 5.9% for 72 mos. I believe that is the lowest apr available for 72 month loans through AHFC.

i was offered $12k as trade-in value for my 08 base model with 5k miles on it
i would have JUMPED at that offer of $17k assuming you'd be getting the '09 for MSRP. there's a 6month waiting list for '09s around here.

I went to the dealer to see about trading up. I wasn't as lucky as you guys. The KBB trade in on my 07 VBP sport MT was around 15k. The dealer offered me 11k and a 3 month wait on the new one. I stuck w/ my 07 just to have a tree fall on it a few weeks later. Going into the shop next week.
You would have to have stones in your head to buy a USED Fit for 20K! Don't get me wrong, I love mine to death but if it had been a year old with XXX miles on it and wearing a twenty thousand dollar price tag I would have got another Mazda 5 instead. The sad thing is that the same lemmings who bought Tahoes and H3s for five over MSRP three years ago are throwing their Amexs at the dealer for these Fits now....
I think the 1st gen. Fit is better then the 2nd gen. I work at Honda and would like to say the 1st gen is lighter and way easier to mod and tune. The 2nd gen, is heavier and has 2 cats. Not liking the 09 to much, just think its to big and I dont know just dont like it. It is starting to grow on me though, anyone drop a k20 in a 09 yet?
