Hi, I certainly didn't break in my fit...
In general, it means to not push the car near or to its limits in any fashion.
Typically recommended for the first thousand or so miles. Or if you're critical enough - to the first oil change (3000-5000 miles). The car is loaded with break in motor oil, which contains minerals etc, to help the engine parts "seat" properly.
Modern cars such as the fit, dont need to be babied during this so called break in period, but should certainly not be raced.

Hope this helps out a bit. Almost every member on this board will have their opinion about the matter - even different mechanics and car designers do - but you bought a honda...it likes to be revved high and pushed to the limits! haha (im only partially sarcastic about that last part).

just drive it normal for the first thousand miles or so, stay away from high revving and dont try to smash on the gas pedal. just treat it right. After a 1000 miles you can drive it however you like...lol

I have an AT and just drove it pretty easily during the break in period. I did not do any hard starts, hard stops or pushed the engine towards red lining. I did this up to the first 1000 miles and then just drove it normal. Ok I sometime hit it but don't go over the speed limit! The car is great and drives better now than it did when I first got it .

Here is what my dealer told me when I took delivery. break in is 600 miles, and theres not too much you can do during the first 600 to really hurt it. things you should not do, full throttle driving, but don't be afraid to get up high in the revs. just dont go wide open throttle. the other thing they said not to do was drive on the high way for long periods of time (like New york city to boston) because u need to vary the revs more than long distance highway allows. but really just drive normal and don't race it lol thats bout it

Lets see just take it easy for the first 1,000 miles. I mean mine has 14,000 miles now and has only seen 4k rpms maybe 4 times. I drive it at 3k rpms or lower. I bought the car in July moved from CA to FL and did a couple long trips to other states. I need to start puting more mods in my car though.

it pretty much means take your car easy for the first couple thousand miles or so. then do a regular oil change iwth your choice oil and boom youre done with break in. after that you can abuse it all you want.
