2007 Honda Fit: Original battery dead at two years
#122
Well, I came out to start my Fit up in the 17 degree Boston weather this morning, no dice, of course. It had died a few weeks ago, but the tow truck driver said that it was holding a charge with no problem (if so, then why is it dying!)
Anyway, called the dealer, he stated that it was covered under warrenty, and that he had "a few" of the Fit batteries in stock, it would cost me 0$!
I'll let you guys/gals know how the install goes.
Also, I agree with a lot of the other posters here; if Honda knows that this is an issue, shouldn't they make more reliable batteries, or at least inform the owners that this is a likely issue?
In my case, it's not like Honda is even going to make any money off of me. I've owned Honda's since the '80's, love them, but this battery problem really bothers me.

Bought a 2007 Fit off of Craigslist a week or so ago and the battery went dead this morning. I had no idea it used such hard to find battery.
Went to AutoZone and Advanced Auto, and finally found a replacement at Pep Boys. I read that the 51 would fit with a little squeezing but I didn't see 2"+ extra wiggle room where the original battery was.
I ended up going with the BOSCH and left $130 poorer.

Size = I did not measure it, i did not use the oem plastic cover on Yuasa,it fits but a little tight & no wiggle.
Cost = $ 104 out the door, the old battery must be given to the store.
Hope that helps !

Honda has had a run of bad batteries and the dealer should know that, what to check, and how to exchange. Sadly, thats then a waiting in line situation.

My 2007 Fit battery gave up the ghost after the winter of '10/11 after four years of reliable service. Only relative mild winters here in D.C. but bloody hot in the Summer. Car is garaged so that keeps temps relative steady and mild. The Fit battery is about the size and shape of a motorcycle battery. To my knowledge no major battery maker has one for the Fit, only dealers.

got a sealed battery
I just got an EXT18L sealed battery to replace the OEM size one. Check it out if you want something like the Odyssey 860. I just had to get the terminals and drill a hole into the battery holder plus buy the shorter J bars and battery tie down.
