Straight up, yes. Rude - No. Its call being realistic. How can you blame bad luck for self inflicted dmg? If the same shit happen to my car and I post here, I can asure you I will get flamed as well. If I crashed into a pole, I aint gonna say a pole hit into me cos of bad luck.

Anyway, back to topic. Poster obviously need help with parts. I've been looking on craigslist around her area... there are some parts she can get at reasonable price - i am guessing salvage yards or bodyshops. If you need help, PM me.

You can get an aftermarket set of foglights ready for paint for like 70 bucks plus shipping.
You can get all the body parts for cheap, but shipping may get you. Same with the headlights - I just came across some used SSM color headlights - that might actually look good on NHBP - for like 99.95 plus shipping.
I don't have all the auction listings to hyperlink but just go to ebay and type in 08 honda fit. Everything you say you need is there and for cheap - some even had a "best offer" feature so you can save even more.

Regardless of whether the damage was do to your negligence or the negligence of others, I think we all can agree that our Fits (and any other cars we own/have owned) are our "babies" and it sucks when sh*t happens.
Good luck with finding parts. Just do some leg work and it'll pay off. You may be able to keep some of that 4K check, who knows...

I'd have responded the way I did regardless of gender.
Whether my own, your own, or someone else's negligence comes along and damage to your own car results it sucks. No question of gender, luck, fault, blame, whatever. Her expression of it is just different from how others would have handled it if they were in her shoes and so, since different can be misconstrued as "wrong" or "dumb" from what we think or know, people start to point.

I think if you come onto a forum and say you've had bad luck when really you are just being young, stupid, impulsive and careless (sort of synonyms, really), you should expect people to reprimand you a little. We're not all under 21 here, some of us actually have life experience to offer.

I mean, I've had several rear-enders, and it wasn't bad luck at any time. It was me being careless and inattentive! The last one I had, I assumed the guy in front of me would go through the yellow light! I would have! He didn't! I slid into his trailer hitch! Duh!!

Just tonight, I had some bad luck coming into my driveway and scraped the bottom of my Fit's front lip! No really, I was mad at my teenage son and went into the driveway too fast, and scraped it. Never let your temper get the best of you while driving. Don't throw stuff at other people, either, like phones and junk. They break, and you lose all your contacts and it costs money.

Not to turn this into a long boring discussion, but part of what has gone wrong with this country is that nobody wants to stand up and take responsibility for what they do any more. It's "bad luck," or "not my fault," or "I'm the wrong color" or "my self-esteem is bad." Just own up to the sh!t you do and fix it. (not talking to the OP, but all of us.)

I said nothing about affluence. It has to do with moral degradation a lot more than any affluence or lack thereof. We have been taught that nothing is our own fault from basically our childhoods up. I say "we" loosely, because I am one of the last generations whose parents may have gone through the Great Depression. I wasn't taught that even if I screwed up royally on the playing field and lost the game, I still got a trophy for trying hard. I wasn't coddled through school and comforted if the mean teacher marked my paper with red pen, which damaged my self-esteem and made it impossible for me to achieve in school. The last few generations have grown up with these errors in belief, and many more. One of the most destructive factors is hearing through 12 years of schooling how evil this country is. If we are so evil, why do so many people want to come here and become Americans?

Is it right that some people have been unscrupulous and defrauded others who have invested money in them? Of course not. It's always been possible for hucksters to rip people off. Do we owe someone a bail-out because they got a mortgage when they couldn't afford it? Absolutely not. But the more responsibility we hand over to our government, the more dependent we become, and the more power we give those supposedly representing us. They are taking a heck of a lot of liberties with our freedom right now, on our behalf, of course.
