I don't think you can find a perfect offset to work on the front. Even if you run 215 tires, it will either rub against the fenders or the against the inside. If you are on stock ride height, you probably get rid of part of the rub :P

I think you have to get wider front fenders then you can run +45 or +35 with 225 tires. If you plan not to run 225 tires then you will loses the entire purpose of an 8" rim.

I was thinking along the same lines, 8" wide forces you into a very wide tire.
Why not a 7" wide rim? That is probably the most common width here on this forum for a 16" wheel (at least pretty sure from reading all/most of the posts here)
You can go on tirerack.com and pick out various tires and click on specs and it will tell you recommended rim widths.
You can also go there and it will tell you which wheels will fit your car (however lowering may not be taken into account)

HFP's are ugly, and heavy.
Theres a few running 16x8's. Problem is with an 8in wide wheel youre limited to space on the inside of the fender wells.

HFP wheels

They are a bit heavy but I have not found a pothole to bend them yet, strong like bull. I like reliable performance, if its going to break, bend, make it run bad I dont want anything to do with it. You aint going to win a race if you cant finish it.

^^^^^^ valid point, I bent a SSR Type C last year on a pot hole, I suspect a stock wheel would have come thru it OK

Ahhh...

Well thanks for the response guys. but after reading the rims and tires thread in here, i decided to get 16x7's the only problem is their only offering the rims with the "ZERO" offset. and i was wondering if 16x7 with a ZERO offset is ok to put on the car, without sticking out too much.

0 offset will stick out too much and be prepared to roll your fenders and maybe still rub

16x7

stock offset is 55. 0 offset may cause wheel bearings to go and cause added wear on suspention components. Just something to concider, not to mention the rubbing issues. lol good luck on the rim mission.

16x8 wheels with 45 mm offset and 205/45x16 tires. 16x7 likewise will work better and cost less and provide better performance and mpg unless you find some VERY light 16x8's. In short, 16x8 does nothing for you that 16x7's won't do equally well.
