Lightbulb transmission

hey i bought a 2001 used fit. i noticed that when i accelerate the car pushing down the gas pedal halfway after a view meters the car shocks once or twice. but when i accelerate by bottoming the pedal nothing happens.

i was wondering is this normal for a CVT or is there something wrong with the transmission?

Not normal for my Nissan CVT; it could be the brake pads disengaging from the discs the first time you move.. If your car has been sitting a while the pads 'stick' to the discs and when you start moving they can cause the car to shock. When you start faster they release quicker so don't shock the car so much. Once you have moved a short ways the movement should be smooth.
If this occurs after the car has been driven some distance it sounds more like shifting or throttle positioner conflict and you need to see your dealer.

That's normal. Best way to get a CVT-equipped car going is with a light touch on the throttle.

If you've got a leaden right foot, the CVT's clutch packs will only suffer, for no gain.

The shaking though might not. Try having the CVT reset.

I hammer my CVT on track and featherfoot it around town and it has no such limitations . After looking at my Nissan CVT shop manual, if the Honda CVT is similar (which it should be) the solenoid lockup which also functions with the forward clutch, could be the culprit. An uncertaion signal that could be expected from an uncertain speed signal could be temporarily locking and unlocking. In either case its a dealer fix if he has the right tech. Its not normal.
