Does the CVT ever "Miss" when steppin' on it?

I used to drive a Pruis for work and it always seemed hit or miss if the transmission would shift properly when acceleration was needed - like an interstate on ramp. Sometimes the gas pedal could be pushed all the way down, the engine would rev up, but then the acceleration never came and the car would gradually accelerate. Is this most likely a Prius design of is it a part of having a CVT?

With ~2,500 miles on my EX CVT, I've never experienced anything like that (this is my first CVT).

My old 2012 Civic Hybrid runs on CVT so my experience with that one on occasion it would get out of sync making the car "jerk" back and forth a little until the wheels finally catch up. It's annoying when it happens so had to back off on the pedal so it'll sync properly.

I never have this problem with the 2015 Fit CVT. When I mash the pedal the car will really move without the issue of "catching" up that you've experienced.

So I imagine Honda fine tuned this new CVT with better ratio timings to match the engine power output.

That is the best I can explain it.

I think what you describe is more an issue of having to powerplants working in a single drivetrain and not an inherent problem with CVTs. I have not experienced what you describe at all in my Fit.
