CA Registration Fees High - '08 Fit

Already tried a search on this, didn't find anything.

I just got my first DMV Registration Renewal Notice and it's unexpectedly expensive. $258 Total. I bought my Fit AT Sport '08 last year, this is my first renewal.

The extra cost is all in the "License Fee" which is $171. My GF's License Fee for her renewal was a little over $50.

Did my dealer screw me over and not pay the DMV fees they were supposed to when I bought the car or is this a normal price for the Fit in CA?

Thanks..

I just found out that CA is increasing the vehicle license fee by almost 100% as of early May. My registration due date is late May. :[

Now the state can have my extra $70 for doing absolutely nothing! This after not getting a ****ing tax refund! Anyone want to go protest? Nah, didn't think so.

Crazyness!

I JUST renewed my 08 Fit Sport, and I paid 86 bucks. That was two weeks ago. I heard that they were raising the registration, but that is insane!

Why is everyone's registration renewal amount different for the same car?

I think it's based off how much you paid for the car. Since every dealer makes sure they screw each customer differently, we all end up with different registration fees.

I think I pay a little under $200.

That is not cool. Do you have vanity plates? Here in CT they're an extra $15/year.

I think our renewal is $80 for the 07 mazda3. Have not had to renew the Fit yet.
