Touchy subject

Hey everyone. I'm currently in the market for a new car, but more specifically I'm in the market for a new sub-compact because of my budget. I quickly settled on the Fit (big surprise right?), but I've had the wind knocked out of my sails a bit.

Maybe I'm just incredibly naive, but I was basing my choice of the Fit on the MSRP I was seeing for the 08 sport AT ($16,070 I believe). I'm starting to realize that due to the popularity of the car, dealers are listing them much higher. One example is a local dealership that had a pre-owned 08 (6,000 miles) and they were charging $17,950 for it. I was just blown away.

So, after all that rambling I come to the heart of the matter. What did you all pay, after all taxes, title, license, misc. fees, for your 08 Fit sport? Obviously as this is a message board, none of you are on the spot--don't answer if you're not comfortable with it. It would help me out a lot though. Thanks very much!

a quick search would have probably pulled up 100 of these threads... However if you can get it at MSRP or below its a good deal.

Heh, good call. I guess my forum etiquette slipped my mind. I will try a search. Thanks for the tip, though.

Thanks a lot ProMed. Yeah, I checked out that thread and from some of the other threads I read it seems that getting a fit for MSRP (+tax, title, license) is not too difficult (though maybe getting harder). I'm estimating this would put me at around 17,500 on an 08 Sport AT.

I'm thinking if I sign up now for an 09 Sport with my local dealership, I maybe be able to keep the price around 17,500 since I'll be paying cash--it's guaranteed quick money in their pocket.

Thanks again.

Ouch the three years of lo=jack must've been a lot. Mine was 20K out the door, but I reserved mine before it even came out, that's why I got the First White MT. I honestly would have definitely paid a good 5K more!

WeeDragonaut, dealerships usually don't like cash buyers because they will make nothing on the back end (fees etc. on a loan). They rather finance you and charge you more

Back to topic, I paid 100$ over invoice on my 08 VBP Sport MT Fit, that should be 200$ under MSRP.
