I want black headlights/fog light housings
What kinda of paint do I use for these two pieces and what type of preparation is needed? Do I need to strip the factory paint off paint and clear coat the housings? I have never painted anything and I don't want to make anything look bad.
Would it be expensive to have a body shop do?

Honestly it might be possible but i am not sure I want to do that. I'm going to go get a quote at the body shop that replaced my bumpers.

Its very simple.
Just get some flat black trim paint. Thats what i used, worked great.
As for the oven...you just put the lights in the oven to make the sealant around the headlight soft so you can pull it apart.
There is a DIY thread on it.
Also the head lights are easy, get some fine grit sand paper, sand them down good, paint away.

well first of all... search the fourms, a lot of people have done this
You risk damaging your headlight housings if you bake them and don't do it properly but i believe there is a thread from a while back from someone who did the projector HID mod. they did a good diy write up with how to go about cracking them open.
you could also just buy a new set of headlights (what I did because I don't have much time to screw with that crap) but its kinda expensive
as for the foglights you need to take some sand paper and scuff them up pretty good (use a very fine grit) then spray some adhesion promoter and then paint them black. i used a product from duplicolor called "bumper coating" spray that on by itself and it dries to a silky smooth flat black. koolkevin did a write up on refinishing some plastic interior pieces which i used as a guide
