Cracked windshield - is my fit bad luck?
Cracked windshield - is my fit bad luck?
Is my Fit bad luck or is it normal for car ownership? I’ve had my Fit for a little over a year with 15k miles and my windshield is cracked. It’s over 6” and appears to be moving in an L shape type motion. I’m not sure what caused it, but I’m assuming its hail that happened a week or so ago.
Anyway since the car is new I’ve decided to go replace it with OEM glass at the dealer, it’s going to cost $540 + taxes. (There goes my tax return!

) Since the car is still “new” I didn’t want to go the aftermarket route, hopefully this mentality will only last for another year or two.
Around 9 months after I got the Fit, I got a dent in a parking lot, a flat, scratched the bumper, and scratched one of the rims all in the same week. I thought at that time my Fit was bad luck. I never drove my old car much, maybe 1k miles a year, so I don’t know what “real” car ownership was like. Except for that one time it broke down on a local highway.

mine has a crack from a rock and the service guy at my local dealer suggested i get one not from the dealer. he said all autoglass is made by the same company the only difference is the honda sticker thing on it.
I think your right! I just called my sister who took it in (I'm letting her use it for school, plus, I'm away) and it turns out that it's not OEM glass. She said they told her that the Honda glass will cost 50% more and the guy said they are the same. The new price is around $480 + taxes.
Now I feel ripped off.

You might want to check your auto insurance benefits pertaining to replacing a cracked windshield...if nothing else...for future reference should it happen again.
