Header installed, weird noise

Today I had a full exhaust installed in my car and after driving off from the mechanic I noticed there was a weird sound coming from the car, which sounds like its coming from the headers. A good way to describe it is rice sucking through the pipes or a minor rattling. Leaks and bolts were checked and there was no problem there and it only happens when I'm accelerating or opening the throttle 50%+ I took the mechanic for a drive down the road to show him the sound and he said it's perfectly normal for headers to do that. I would just like to know if he was right or if I should go get it checked out again.

Sounds weird. But really we'd need to know the brand(s) of parts used. And, since you're not USDM, is it the 1.5L vtec, 1.3L i-dsi, etc...
Maybe post a sound clip? Did they maybe get a nut or bolt stuck somewhere in the exhaust? If you removed/replaced the catalytic converter, then you'll get a raspy/rattle on hard acceleration possibly. Let's have some more info on that exhaust!

The exhaust is made up of X-Force parts except for the muffler which is a spoon street and the cat which is a custom high flow one. My Jazz is a 1.5L. I will try and get a clip, but you can only really hear it when driving since when revving everything gets too loud.

he must not like imports ie: rice.

so did he explain to you where such noise is coming
from? ive done full exhaust swaps on previous cars and
never did i encounter rattling other than a heatsheild
that was rubbing against the pipe..which was an easy
fix by bending it out of the way by a few cm.

He said it's the sound that the headers make when I accelerate because there's no heat shield so you can hear it more and since it's only when I accelerate it's fine, you can't hear anything at idle. I've also read that stainless steel headers make a weird noise (which could be what I'm hearing)

Make sure you have a gasket inbetween the header and the cat. And make sure the headshield in bolted in all the way if you have one.

Well I just got back from having my car serviced and the mechanic there also said that it's completely normal and that his car does that too. Strange though, for something completely normal, no one here mentioned having the same thing.

On another note, the stock gasket should fit the aftermarket header + cat yes? I shouldn't have needed to go and get another one? (Because I'm assuming where I had it installed just used the stock one)

yes it uses the stock one. i would suggest check with whoever did the install. i almost forgot the gasket today with putting my headers and cat back together so it is an easy thing to forget IMO
