Cups?

Took the Fit in to the dealer for normal maintenance and told them I was getting a "womm-womm-womm" sound from the rear on smooth highways. They said they'll check the wheel bearings as that's what it sounds like. Got a call later saying that the tires are cupping. These are the original Dunlop tires and they have only 25,000 miles on them, but they have been rotated when the Honda dealer sez it's time. Was told it could be out of alignment but the Fit goes straight as an arrow. Has anyone else run in to this?

if you carry a lot of weight in the back frequently you might run into this problem. the rear has some decent amount of toe-in from the factory to have straight-line stability.

Another cause is hard cornering--I take my turns pretty quick, but rarely haul cargo and mine are cupped bad. Can't wait to get rid of the Dunlop's anyway.

On other cars we found this cupping conditions it was either out-of-balance tire or bad shock.

Cupping is usually caused by bad shocks or loose/bad suspension parts.

also alignment of by a couple degrees will make that happen witch begins by fethering the of tires and cuping the tires exspeacialy if your fit is lowerd cause there is noway of fixing that with out shims and also risk of messing up the abs system not including warping of parts but yes your right also because of worn or leaking shocks and lack of rotation and balanceing

Yeah, I've heard OEM tires ain't the best. Any recommendations on good replacement? Oh, and it's not lowered and nope, no heavy stuff being hauled around.

I'm getting the Kumho Ecsta ASX when my OEM's are finished. Best all-season for the OEM sport alloys. I would go with a a kumho summer performance tire if I didn't have to worry about snow.

They look bald now and I had less than half tread left at my 12k oil change.

24,000 miles on the stock dunlops so far with no problems. I rotate every 5,000 miles, though.

I got tires changed at 17000ish miles and they where pretty bald. I couldn't wait to get rid of them though.
