3rd gear pull with wot question

Ok have had the 2007 AT sport for 3 weeks and today on the highway I opened it up. in 3rd gear at 6200-6300 it did something weird it kind of hiccuped and went back to 6k then went to 6500 then shifted. it doesnt do that in 1st or 2nd and I didnt go that far into 4th. any ideas?

Oh I did it again and it does it in 3rd still so it wasnt a fluke.

Joe

Sounds like you hit the rev limiter. Depending on what gear mode you were driving ("D" and "S") along with the throttle position would determine when the trans shifts. Typically in "D" mode, the Fit will shift before VTEC (3,400 RPMS) to achieve the best fuel mileage. In "S", the Fit has its shift points set higher for more spirited driving.

Yep, I agree on the rev-limiter/fuel cutoff idea. That's pretty characteristic of it being activated to prevent you grenading the engine.

Well then I will just shift at 5500 then and not take it to that. I did not like that at all. i have had many sportbikes and bouncing off the rev limiter is fine but it was really weird. it was like bouncing off then shifting and it was in D and I was not messing with the paddles. : )

That's so wierd. I've never had a problem like that in D or S. Normally if I want to open it up I go to S, but the few times i've floored it all the way in D that hasn't happened.

ME AND KEEPITPG have the same thing happen in our AT cars too, we both found out it does that when we were at the racetrack, it's not the rev limiter, it's just the way honda has the AT shift - i don't know if they know it cause it happens at 86mph and drops down to 81mph and then starts climbing again ond it only happens in 3rd gear - i'll have to check the RPM's next time cause we just noticed MPH
we hit that point on every straightaway (4 of them), it got pretty frustrating but it doesn't bother me to much cause we had crazy fun

I've done this in S paddle shift mode cuz right when I needed to shift my phone rang and I was distracted.

I've never seen the tach go that high in D. Maybe 4500-5000, but never to the redline.

But I agree, it was def the rev limiter.
