Question how much is too much?

obviously most everyone here hav enough money to make mods to their Fit.

this is my problem im ur avg college kid who doesn't like to spend an excessive amount of money

however i want a car and a Fit would be my dream, so i'm willing to spend money for it.

yesterday i found the Fit that i would love to buy its certified, under 23000 miles but they are asking around 15 thousand for it...should i go for it?

$15,000?!? wwaaayyyyyyy too much if it's already got 23,000 miles on it. i bought my 2007 Fit Sport brand new with 14 miles on the odo (3 came from my test drive) for $15,890 - just under $18,000 out the door

I know all about being a college kid. I just graduated in December and I was unemployed until last month. My mom was paying for my Fit until now. So it's all up to whether or not you can afford it. Not sure what your financial situation is, but snce you're still in college and probably can't work a job that requires many hours I would suggest holding off on getting any car loans, especially in this economic condition.

But if you really want a GD, you should be paying $13-$15K. I have an 08 Sport AT (minty condition) with 17K miles and KBB has the private party list at $14,865. I paid $16,122 for the car. So for a 23K miles I'd say $15K is a bit much. Try to get them down to around $13.5. GL and let us know how it goes.

An 09 Sport with 23k milesis w/o nav is a $15.5 car; an 08 is 13.9, and an 07 is 12.5 However, as any dealer knows, its what someone is willing to pay. If your serious, offer him the $ above plus tax and tags. If he won't then let him hold it a while.
BTW a new 09 may have lower car payments, but for 60 months instead of 48 or 52.

I would look elsewhere for sure. I just bought a 2008 Fit Sport with 10K miles for $12K. I looked long and hard and found the right one for the right price. Some people out there on craigslist, etc are high and want what they paid for it after driving 20K miles. Be patient and look on a national level. I live in Kansas City, found the Fit in Las Vegas, flew out there, picked it up and drove it home. One way ticket bought the night before I left was only $150. Well worth it.

That asking price is way too much for a 2007. I got my 2007 new in May 2007 and got it for $17,001.00 out the door price. I would expect to pay around 10,000 to 12,000 for that model and miles. The problem is that you don't really see many Fit sitting on the used lot. Keep looking and checking with your local Honda dealership to see what they might have. I checked the Blue Book Value for a 2007 Honda Fit Sport in excellent condition same miles it list $11,300.00, for good condition $10,650.00 and for poor condition $9,525.00. Of course it the car is modded they may be asking more because of the extras on the car.

Good luck with your search.

Used cars generally have a $3k markup on them so the dealer can give out retail values on trade-ins in order to make the customer feel good.

kbb.com can give you a good idea what to pay in your area.

Yeah that's def. high for a used fit. If you have your heart set on that exact color/model/etc, try to talk them down. If not, try to look a little more. Good luck!
