I survived my first thunderstorm

in my Fit. On my drive home little after midnight God had diarrhea and shit hit the floor. Heavy rain and hail just came down and quickly and completely flooded the streets but my Fit just kept going till i stopped at an abandoned building and watched as the water rise up and cover the road lanes. When it let up a little i drove home and the general reaction from my family was:

"Holy shit how the hell is your car still going?!"

"I'm surprise the car didn't tip over with the wind"

Good to hear you're alright. I had experiences with the Fit with heavy rains too where I can't even see the road but I just kept on going. Even in snow the Fit performed fine. The Fit seems to be an all season vehicle . This should be in General Discussion though.

damn.... you were smart to stop and just wait it out.

some folks force their cars through deep water and endup hydrolocking it. (very expensive to fix).

Glad to know you and your ride did well.

Rain and crosswinds the Fit will handle fine. You'll need course corrections on gusty days because the slab sides mean the Fit is easy to push out of its lane at cruising speeds. But no need to worry about tipping over from just wind, that's extremely unlikely

What our cars don't like though is deep floodwater. The intake is mounted low on the bumper and the ride height is pretty low as it is in stock condition. The car can probably ford some water, but it's best not to risk it. My Stebel TM80 Magnum horns got destroyed when I blasted through a rather deep puddle once, due to the very low location. I had my next horn set (Bosch Windtones) high-mounted, under the hood support holder.
