Doing Up Jazz VTI advice please?
Doing Up Jazz VTI advice please?
I'm looking to buy a Jazz VTI in Australia. I need some advice on the parts I want to upgrade. There are quite alot of knowledgeable people on this site so...
Please let me know what you think. Thanks People
- Suspension, I want adjustable coilovers that will improve the handling of the car. Australian roads aren't that smooth.
- Wheels, I'm thinking 16inch? What do you have that's tried and tested? I'll be driving the car to the coast/camping/around brisbane/skidpan/mt neebo maybe.
Please let me know what you think. Thanks People
My recommendations
Suspension: Spring for TEIN Super Compact coilovers if you can. They ride pretty well on rough streets and you can stiffen them up for better handling.
Wheels: 16x7 wheels with +45 offset or higher will work well and will let you avoid rubbing problems with the rear fenders (I use this wheel size myself). If you can somehow find 16x6.5 wheels with the same or slightly lower offset, that's much better for fitment. Shod the wheels with 205/45R16 rubber and you should be good to go.

I don't personally think that the Fit/Jazz needs, adjustable coil overs. If I wanted a lowered look I'd just buy springs which should be pretty inexpensive.
If you truly think you need adjustable ride height then just look for something with adjustable mounts.
like these

see the gold AND red rings just above the shock body on the pair to the right? Those rings are where the springs seat onto the shock body (Adjusters and lockers). This is all you need to adjust ride height.
The pictured coil overs are 32 way adjustable, but honestly you probably don't need all of that. You can find coil overs with only ride height adjust ability that should suit you just fine.
In the long run it's up to you how you Kit your own car. What you need, what you want and what you can afford. I just advise against spending money on things that you don't really need so you have some money left over for things that you really want, like a turbo kit.
