Nearly decapitated my Fit
Nearly decapitated my Fit
I had to take my Mom to Health Plus and it was pouring the rain and getting dark. I dropped her off at the front door and drove around to the alley where the garage is. There was a truck parked in the alley down below me and I wanted to get the car inside ASAP. I don't have an automatic door opener so I have to park the car and unlock and raise the garage door. It is pouring down the rain so I am trying to hurry to unlock the garage door and I throw it up. I run back to the car so I can get it backed into the garage before the truck starts heading my way. All of the sudden I hear a hit- I stop immediately look in the mirror and can see that the garage door had not gone all the way up! Yikes I jump out of the car and raise the door noticing a slight dent in the garage door. I pull the car inside and turn on the lights and nothing looks damaged. Except there looks like a small gap at the back of my anntena base! You'd never notice it unless you knew - so the Honda roof is strong stuff and I immediately stopped when I realized the anntena was hitting the door. I am taking the car in on Friday for an oil change and wonder if I should have them take a look at it? I just don't want it to leak water or anything like that - has anyone else had this happen to them? What shocked me is that I immediately stopped but it was enough to dent the bottom of my door it looks like a very light V - Victory to the Fit - Garage Door 0 -

you know, ive seen this happen to some people's cars when some idiot dealer sticks their customer cars into their NYLON BRUSH autowash without removing the antenna.
the PDR guy can push it out. he will pull down a part of the ceiling from the rear door and stick his tool to get access under the roof.

wow. my initial thought was the garage door slid shut on top the fit...then seen antenna n was like..holy dick yer lucky and have perfect timing for the door to hit the antenna. lol, then i kept reading n was completely wrong
but still high five to the fit.

but still high five to the fit.
back like 15-20yrs ago some lady in an acura legend (new at the time) kinda pulled up too
close to the railroad crossing and the gate slammed into her car's trunk. not sure
wat the hell she was thinking but anyway, she backed up to get clearance from
the tracks since there was a train approaching and her extended antenna caught
the gate and completely severed off.
i saw the whole thing. was like ouch.

Is it sad that out of the whole story, the only thing I realized is that I'm jealous of your rain? Man, I want it to rain here in LA again someday.
Anyways, yeah, get it looked at ASAP. Water in the roof liner would be very bad, and expensive.

And here I thought this was gonna be another teaser thread name where you tell us your Fit won a five foot high trophy! LOL JFWY I second the above that you have the luck of the irish that the antenna caught the garage door and not the nice shiny roof. And BTW Costco has Chamberlain garage door openers for 169 bucks right now I think....

Check out the Weather Channel for S.E. USA, particularly Atlanta, Ga., where we have received in the past week UNPRECEDENTED amounts of rain (20+ inches in some areas!) And it seems like only yesterday, that we were in a drought, no car washing in your driveway, etc. etc!
