Was this extended warranty offered only by the dealership and not through Honda America? Does the warranty only cover the 2 diagnostic codes or was it a blanket warranty covering all diagnostic codes?

Through Honda America, we got an official letter a few years ago. The dealership actually had to look it up, but they found it. The warranty is on the power steering module. My wife's steering wheel would lock up every few months, and they told me that as long as it was in the mileage, they didn't have to repeat the issue due to safety. They replaced it, would've been an $800+ job.

We received the letter from Honda Canada 2 years ago but the extended warranty was only applicable for 2 diagnostics codes. My 2007 Fit was experiencing power steering issues and when I took it in for repair the dealer said that they wouldn't cover the cost to replace the power steering unit because the diagnostic code did not match the 2 that were covered under the extended warranty. To me that is a bunch of hogwash. If the power steering fails it should be replaced under warranty regardless of what the diagnostics code is.

I know this is an old thread, but my wife's 2010 Honda Fit, with less than 7,000 miles on it, (that's really less than 7,000 miles, I bought it new), had a problem with the power steering when I started it today after it had been sitting for about a week. Wheel seemed harder to turn than usual.

Does the extended warranty that you're all talking about cover the 2010 models?

I'm having the same problem with my 2010. It's intermittent. Did you figure out if the warranty applys?
