Another FF'er with a bad EPS... lost power steering twice now
Willy, have you looked into a corporate e-mail carpet bombing? I keep seeing people having good luck with that strategy on The Consumerist. Basically, write a polite, detailed letter with your problem, how you've been unable to get help and why you think it's the company's resposiblity. Then email it to every Honda corporate level person you can find. If that doesn't work, write The Consumerist with what you've done and how you've failed to get any help. If it makes it to the front page, Honda will definately take notice.
Best of luck! And if anyone from Honda reads this, DO THE RIGHT THING! We trusted you with a lot of our money, show us that trust was well placed!

Well, my steering is fixed and Honda ended up taking care of about two thirds of the total cost. My portion was $288.00. I can't exactly complain but it certainly wasn't a speedy process. If anyone else has this happen out of warranty be patient and don't give up. My situation started out with being lied to, then being told no we're not covering anything and then it was o.k. well take care of you. Also, don't listen to the dealer if they try to tell you Honda's only going to cover ten or fifteen percent. It's Keep at them. They should fix weird crap like this and if they don't want to then they should stick with the old method of providing power assist.
TSB stands for technical service bulletin. It's basically a letter that Honda sends out to all Honda Dealers identifying a common problem and how the problem should be repaired. The part that was repaired on my car was the electric power steering control module.
More info please
Can you please list more details of your problem, the number of the TSB, etc? I may have a similar problem developing with my FIT. Or email me @ spece30@gmail.com
TSB# is 09-034. Someone listed it at the beginning of this thread. The symptoms are that the power assist stops working. You'll know when this happens as the steering will be very difficult. It would usually happen on mine in cold weather after letting the car warm up for a while. I would get in the car and the power steering icon would be illuminated on the dash and there would be no power assist. It did however happen once while driving in the middle of a corner and I almost ran someone off the road. The actual problem is a faulty electric power steering control module or EPS Unit. It needs to be replaced and the cost will usually be between $900 and $1100. American Honda covered most of the cost for me and my out of pocket ended up being $280.00. It did however take me the better part of two weeks to get them to help me. Your first step should be to bring it in to your local dealer. Then when they tell you what's wrong, see if they'll go to bat for You with Honda and try getting it covered under Honda's Good Will Assistance Program. If that fails then it's time to call Honda's customer service department and file a complaint. They will then forward your case to a Case Manager for review. My case manager reminded me of a collection agency rep I dealt with about twenty years ago. They basically will try to make You feel bad for asking for assistance and treat You like a piece of garbage when talking with You. Make sure You document every conversation and get names. They're very skilled at losing files, lying and trying to make you give up. I seriously got the impression after a while that they're trained to be operate like this. Let Me know if You have any other questions.
Good Luck,
Willy
