Transmission light help

Hey guy, my transmission light has been since last week and i'm not really sure what's going on with it. The car has 43,000 miles and i changed the oil about 3,000 miles ago with mobil 1 synthetic for the first using that type. Not sure if that is an issue or not. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have an auto parts store dump the code from the computer, almost all of them do it for free. Then please post back the results. Without knowing the code, it could be one of 100 or more different issues.

You have a tansmission light ? Or is it the TPMS light ? (which means you have a tire pressure below 28 psig. More dofus from our glorious government)

nope transmission light and apparently the guy said it had to do with a replacement of manufacturers air filter. I just did that and bought a K&N air filter and it still is on. Is that commmon?

Can you take a picture of what the light looks like?

Edit: I'm not entirely sure I have seen the light you are talking about, and I just checked the owners manual for the instrument panel. There is no transmission light per se on the instrument panel.

There IS a transmission trouble light... the PCM will flash the "D" shift indicator.

Sounds like a CEL to me if his tires aren't flat and he can still steer

If it is the check engine light then you won't be able to go over 5,000 rpm because the car has a built in limiter when the CEL is on...If its still under warranty just take it into the dealer, when my engine light came on I took it to the dealer, dropped it off and I came back the next day to pick up the car, the problem I had, was that one of my senors that controls the VTEC went bad.

Any way good luck hopefully it's still under warranty

I know I have an extended warranty on mine but I'm not sure exactly what the terms are, call up your dealer before you head down there and ask them if your not sure...they wont charge you anything just to read an engine code and tell you whats wrong with it, then after that they can tell you what need to be done and if it is covered.

picture looks like I took it. Its not real clear but it does look like the 'check engine' warning.
As suggested you need to go to a store that will check it for free or go to the dealer or buy an OBD checker for youself for arond $30.

Yup that's the check engine

This is what the PCM does when it has transmission codes on a Honda

Like I said previously, it's the Check Engine Light, go get the code read, and then post it on here. Someone has the service manual to tell you the code.

No it isn't.
A k&n filter shouldn't cause the engine to throw a code. I have run one on every vehicle since 1990-ish and on my fit since the third day I have owned it and now have 60K miles in 20 months. I would bet that about 40% or more of the people on this site have a K&N drop in or some sort of oiled filter intake kit and use them without issue.

When that check engine light is on, its number one deal is emissions. So make sure your gas cap is 3 clicks tight. If it had to do with something with the air filter, and you just replaced it with out resetting the code then just wait a day or two for it to reset it self. usually it takes 2 drive cycles or so to make sure there it a problem or if not existing no more it will turn off after the second or third drive cycle. My guess was the filter was so damn dirty that it was MAF SENSOR was hardly getting any readings so it hard for the car to run in open loop during cold start ups.

apparently the 02 sensor and it was causing the check engine light to be on.
