Tires

I have an 08' Sport lowered with a lowering coilover kit. I have yet to see a stock tire that lasts. I hated my stock rubber. I tend to push my car in the corners and they were horrible! All they did was moan and squeal when pushed at all. I replaced then at 28K with about 1/2 tread depth left.

Since I have dedicated snow tires mounted on separate rims I put on Dunlop Direzza Star Specs Z1. Absolutely love these tires. They stick like velcro, ride nice, never squeal or complain, great in the rain and with their relatively low wear rating are wearing quite nicely with 25,000 miles and 1/2 tread depth left. My only complaints are they will get noisy when they do start to wear and they feel a little dead driving straight. But not when turning any amount, they come to life then.

Having said all this, my next tire will be a Nokian i3, H or V. Not sure which yet. But it must be a European made model, not a made in China model. Something about rubber compounds. Speaking of which, these also have a pretty high wear rating. All reviews I have seen on them have been very positive.

I replaced my stock pieces of crap (after about 32k) with some new BFGoodrich Traction TA tires from tirerack.com. They were normally $90 each, but I just happened to check one day & they were on clearance for $50 each... so I couldn't pass that up. Have about 10k miles on them and the dealer just said they are still at 10/32... I haven't been disappointed yet.

If I ever replaced my tires, since I don't make a habit of cruising my Fit at 9/10th's I'd think about less rolling resistant tires to boost MPG with.

I put on Goodyear Eagle GT on two of the tires (I didn't rotate often enough, and I am hard on the tires). I will be replacing the other two tires soon (I bought a set of four at the time, but only mounted two).

I definitely preferred the GT's on the front when I had them there for acceleration and braking. They are now in the rear so I can finish what is left of the OEM tires and put the GT's on all four corners.

I know these tires won't last as long as a Low rolling resistance tire. I do like to corner quickly and redline on a daily basis, so I prefer a tire that I can trust with better traction over longevity.

If you got 28k at half tread depth thats 40k for the stock tires. Mine were worn to 2/32 at 25k. Race tracks do that.
If tire mileage is your concern you should select tires with wear ratings of 400 or more, even 700. Consult TireRack or DiscountTireDirect.com

I got 4 Fuzion ZRi 205/55 R15 (from tiresavings.com) waiting in my garage, the stock turanza el41 are nearly dead after 50 000km... but since i have winter tire also, i maybe used them for 30 000km. I might get them on the car this week! i can't wait to test the handling of those new tires!
but nokian H or V tires seem to be great tires! i'm a nokian winter tire fans! so i would trust their summer tire

I replaced the stock tires around 25k... went with RT615's in a 205/50-15. Those tires rode better than the stock ones and handled amazing! They lasted about a year and a half before I wore the tread out. I replaced those today with General Exclaim in the same size, so far they ride great! I know I gave up some grip with these in the twisties but the ride is nice and the life on them should be much longer.

If cornering is your forte' then theDirezza Stars are the consensus best in sizes 185/60x14 or 195/50x15. tread life isnt over 20K but the performance is gold.
If long tread life is your goal choose a tire with UTOG of 600 or more from several known and respected suppliers, but don't expect really good lap times.
