i was thinking of a way to keep my stock air box but get growl and some tone out of it, so what if you took the stock lid and NICELY cut a square from one side of lid to the other, leaving 1/2 inch around all four corners? would kind of mimic the ARC induction box sorta

i would keep the main box and get rid of the resonator attached to it (inside the bumper)

that wouldnt work, you should cut out a hole in the bottom or you're basically not using your filter. air flows from bottom up, not top down.

Just do the SSRI, it will cost you $45. Click on the link below.

Eh, I don't like the design of the SSR, spectre parts are super cheap plastic and I have seen a number of them break when cars have gone over decent bumps (some during autocross and others having been driven on the street). The other thing is unless you get the filter quite a ways away from the exhaust manifold, it is going to suck some very warm to very hot air, the stock box keeps it a good bit cooler since it has some barrier effect.

The best option for you to keep it cheap and get more sound is to remove the stock resonator. We did this on a friend's 4 cyl. accord years ago while it was on a dyno, it actually picked up 2hp on the top end immediatly with just the simple removal of the resonator. It also sounded very, very good.

then chop off the "on-box" resonators and fit yourself with a new 90* from the box to the tb... that'll make a nice improvement...
