Potential Fit Owner question

Hi everyone, Im currently looking for a car and found the Fit to be within my budget. The only concern I have is the water leak onto the floor board. How common is this for the 07 Fit's? I found a great priced Fit for 11k with 17k miles on it in manual transmission. So i am very eager to purchase it but the water leaking is a really big concern I have. The person who is selling it also have a letter about the window switch recall and I was wondering is that transferrable to me? I can just bring the car to any Honda dealership and they will fix it free of charge or does it have to be the original owner?

Thank you all!
Have a great memorial day!

Can't help much; in the probably 100 Fits we've seen not one had a water leak. Doubt its very common.

My 08 does not leak.
As to the switch recall, as long as the vehicle is under 36K miles, you are covered.

Recalls are honored regardless of milage or owners.

Non-issue, it's very rare and if it's a Honda problem, the dealer will fix it for free. Get the car, it's a great deal and you will LOVE it.

mine isn't leaking so I dont know much about the problem. But if your car is under 36k miles you're covered by the warranty! already previously stated by someone i think. lol

Thanks you all for responding. The reason I was so worried because I was reading some threads on this forum about the water leak into the floor boards and cargo area. I do hope it's a small isolated incident. And regarding the 36k miles thing - I was under the impression it's 3 years or 36k miles(which ever comes first) and since it's 2010, I would assume the warranty is over?

You'd better check something out on that floorboard leak. There was a production problem recall that occurred when I got my car in Jan 08. It seems that water was getting into some cars on the front floorboards and shorting out the connector on the passenger side floor that was connected to the passenger airbag control, making them inoperable. If your car has some kind of leak that is flooding the floor in front, this potentially can cause that connector to have the same problem. Just saying.... Check it out with a dealer to see if that can be an issue if you develope some regular flooding of the floor.

Thanks for the tips. Do you happen to know the recall so I can search by vin number to see if the car was part of this? Thank you!

The best place to check if your VIN has a recall is here:

I know when I got my car it was still in effect and that was in Jan. 08.
