In for the updates:

- I haven't finished yet.
- I still need to check the valve clearance and adjust if necessary.
-I spent 4 hours on it last night.
-The EGR chamber was crudded up and I cleaned it which took a while and the associated chambers in the intake manifold and block as well. -I replaced the PCV valve and removed and inspected the EGR valve. -The EGR valve appeared to be fine.
-The PCV valve was sluggished compared to the new one(what do you expect for 100k). -
-I also cleaned my air filter
-I lost 2 bolts but I found one; still on the hunt for the 1 bolt.
-Oh, I forgot to order the EGR chamber cover gasket. Hopefully the local dealer will have it or I will have to reuse the old one.
- I didn't take apart the intake manifold completely or remove the throttle body(I won't be using the red gaskets for the manifold that connects the plastic to the aluminum parts)

updates:

- haven't found the bolt yet. :P
- Well, adjusting the valves was a pain in the ass!!!
here were the clearances:
#1 - I - .009 E - .010
#3 - I - .009 E - .007
#4 - I - .009 E - .011
#2 - I - .009 E - .008

I adjusted them to I - .006 E - .012

I did this because the Intake seemed to loosen up while the Exhaust seemed to tighten up.

Also, you must remove the passenger tire and part of the under guarding to access the crank bolt in order to rotate the crank. I must have removed about 6 of the plastic nail/screws and luckily none broke. :P

It was hot and my camera fogged up :P

Also, I have drained the coolant and oil and oiled the K&N air filter. All that is left to do is put it back together. :P

Oh, no one has the EGR chamber cover gasket. I will be reusing the original one. It looks fine since I cleaned it off.

I am finally finished! That was an adventure, one lost bolt, a few cuts and I had to reuse a gasket. I just need to wash the car but thunderstorms are brewing. This will be a difficult project for people with big hands. This is very time consuming. I wish everything was easily accessible like the D and B series motors. This is well worth a $100+ dealer charge. I believed I had to remove 6 hoses and 6 senor clips to remove the manifold not to mention the bolts are a pain to get to and the gaskets weren't cheap! I hope I don't have to do this for another 100k.

All cleaned and back together:

Thumbs up Dude now that's good work!

Let me start by saying thank-you for all the time you have put into this thread. The Best I've seen, so how did the plugs look compaired to the new plugs? I see the color is right. How much play did you adjust out of the valve train? Were they way off making alot of noise? And best of all under your hood looks new and run like it too. Let us know how she responds to this major tune up, MPG and torque lol what is it 107 ftlbs new right but even so let us know if this put some Grunt back in her front end. thanks again!

#1 - I - .009 E - .010
#2 - I - .009 E - .008- Run Hot
#3 - I - .009 E - .007- Run Hot
#4 - I - .009 E - .011
--------------------------------------
#5 - I - .006 E - .012 [adjusted]

I'm wondering why the exhaust valves go as they do.

Intake loosen - all
Exhaust tighten - #2 - #3 more hot??

I think this is typical, no? WHY?
---------------------------------------
What do you think of the sludge you found.

Gooey?
Dense?
Smell like oil or fuel?

Looks nice and clean. Thanks for sharing - well organized.

What do you think of your photos?

Sounds like your Fit has been good to you for the first 100,000. I hope it continues to be reliable for you in the next 100,000.

Loved your post and getting a chance to see the internal parts of the engine. Looks like your Fit has many more miles to go. Just keep taking good car of it like you are and it will be on the roads for many years. My 2007 just rolled over 18,000 miles and I am hopefuly to have it many more miles.

- I am not sure why the valves were the way they were or what contributed to their clearances. I am not sure if this is typical it is the first time I have even checked them. Others that have checked their clearances will have to chime in.
- The plugs appear to wear pretty even and normal despite the valve clearance deviations
- It was carbon deposits that where dry and hard in the EGR chambers. I had to scrap it out for the most part with a flat head screw driver carefully to not damage the chamber.and I used some goo begone to clean the rest. It took a while and I was impatient, so I probably could of made it cleaner.
- photos are taken with a nikon d500 35mm 1.8F, I am learning. I would of taken more but removing gloves and cleaning hands gets to be a pain in the arse.

Perrenoud Fit - I doubt I will notice the power increase/decrease but I just filled up the tank with gas so by wednesday I should have an idea of what the mpg looks like.

I've got over 127,000 on my '07 Sport Fit AT. I'm on my 2nd A/C condenser. It looks like I will have to replace it very soon again...how does yours look?

I've adjusted my valves every 60,000, replaced the plugs, replaced the ATF and cabin filter at the same time. Adjusting the valves is just like doing a bike's...after all, it is a Honda.

My oil changes were at 1,000; 3,000; 6,000; 9,000; 12,000; 15;000; 20,000; 25,000 and every 5,000 there after. I've only used Castol GTX 5W-20.

The only engine mods I've done are a K&N Typhoon and a Mugen oil cap and radiator cap.

Awesome post. Nice to see our Fits are pretty reliable! =)

My 2007 Honda Fit Sport manual just hit 111k miles. New tires at 60k, changed the mtf at 84k miles, radiator fluid change at 101k miles, orig brake pads and rotor resurface at 104k miles. Will be doing the spark plugs and belts in the next service (all preventive). Car still runs great! I do get the a/c vent rattles too once in a while but disappears once the car has been driven for a while so I would assume its temp related.

Jodele - I have had no A/C issues other than when it gets hot the A/C seems inadequate here in the south driving a black car with big windows.

Wow! Nice pics cause i'll be there soon also. Love driving mine around. Too bad i can't push a button and make it a 4x4 suv for winters in wisconsin. But I've got 77k on it and only have had it for 2yrs. Love the mgp though, beats driving the big pilot around. Has any1 hit the 200k yet?

Thanks.

Again, I hope everyone can learn from this and we can use it to compare to other high mileage fits. I tried to take decent pictures because I know it has always frustrated me when a thread doesn't have good or enough pics.

I found a few more pictures(not as good) that I took with my iphone:

If you want larger pictures I can email them to you or anyone. They are around 3-5.5MB in size(12MP) except for the iphone pics.

85k

85k on mine, had to have the Power Steering computer and all 4 coilpacks replaced under warrenty, had the brakes done, new tires, oil changes when the computer demands them. Overall been really good, considering its been through a fire (little old lady who was parked next to me couldent drive but dident want to give up her car; so she went out every week and started it. Her hearing was going out and i guess so she could tell if she started it or not she floored it; eventually the carb blew up and the thing caught fire. minor damage to my car (melted headlight lense and the bumper bubbled up). Thats been fixed for a long time now.

Does anyone else's attract rocks like crazy? I have a couple small dents in my hood from rocks, a couple on my windshield from them as well, and than tonight i found where one hit above the windshield and dented my car!

I have had to replace my windshield once due to rocks cracking it and my hood looks like it has been in a small rock fight.

I am at 126k on an '07, also manual.

Same thing...no issues at all. Just a lot of tires.

There's no doubt that another Fit is in my future...just a matter of 150k or 200k.
