100000 miles on FIT 2007 manual Sport

Well, almost. I am at 99000 miles. I will be at the 100k mark this month.

You might ask what problems or maintenance have I had done and what is my mpg?

Maintenance:

- I have changed the oil every 10k with mobile 1 0w-20 synthetic except for the first 2 oil changes which were at 5K and not synthetic oil.
- currently on my second set of tires at with 51k on them
- I have changed the tranny fluid twice, once at 45k and the second at 90K.
- I have replaced the air filter first with a honda oem filter but that would get expensive so I used a washable K&N after that and I am currently using it.

MPG:

- I didn't care at first then after 6months(probably averaged 36mpg). I became interested in Hypermiling and achieved a tank of 70.5mpg. For the last year I have been averaging about 40mpg driving with Cc at 70mph and using the A/C . I would have to guess that my average is some where near 43-45mpg. You can check out some of my mileage logs on cleanmpg.com.

Problems:

- The electric power steering was cutting out every now and then a few months ago but it hasn't lately.
- rattle noise from the A/C vents in the dash on some not so smooth roads, I just dealt with it, not too bad.
- well the shifting is long so I installed a short shifter.
- there is no dead foot rest so I installed the zeta dead pedal.

What lies ahead:

- 100k tune-up - oem spark plugs
- new tires in hopefully more than 10k
- brake pads and probably the rotors(I will go ahead and put new brake fluid in too)
- radiator flush

So, there is my update. I will let you know how it goes with the 100k check in. I haven't heard of many FITs in the 100ks yet so I thought I would post and give people like me an update of what they can expect or not.

+ rep on the feedback thank you PBH

Just the sort of info I've been wondering about, I'm just about 6K into it and look forward to breaking your mark.

I haven't changed the brake fluid or brake pads yet. I will do both at the same time when I have to change the brake pads.

Oh, I did buy this car brand new in July of 2007. I drive too much. My daily commute to work is 59miles one way.

I have been doing some reading and searching and realized I have never checked the valve clearance. So that will be on my to do list at 100k. Since I that will be a tedious process, removing the intake manifold, I am going to check the EGR valve and passage to see how mucked up they are as well.

I plan on taking pictures of the whole process as well. It looks like i will be ordering $71.00 in OEM gaskets. :P

Talking Take Lots of Pix Please

We thank-you in advance, I would love to see what your EGR looks after 100K. Also what was your oil/filter changing schedule? Some of us here go 9K and some 3K. Did you use any products to clean the fuel injectors? Was this mostly Hiway driving, city or a combo?
This will be great info for us to learn from, Thanks again

WOW I see we really jumped on this thread.... and that's good

So you have just broken your Fit in then? I think the Fits will go over 200,000 miles easy if you take care of them. Really the coolant and oil are the two biggies, then brake fluid, and then the odds and ends filters, belts, etc.

only 60,000 miles until you have to adjust the idle speed per the user manual!

How close to 100k are you?

I would love to see what it looks like in there. You're less than half-way through that engine's life.

Ever any coolant issues? Looks like a solid system.

Hmm good thread. I think most hondas should get to 200k with out any major problems. Its all in the way you take care of the car. My previa has 234k miles on her right now the only problem with it is the AC does not work.

Back in 05-12-2009 -
I had 60K on the fit and I hadn't done anything with the coolant. My water temp on the way to work never exceed 177F but it was only 55F ambient. My overflow tank was empty!!! with a little blue liquid coating the bottom. I immediately went to the dealer and filled it up with coolant. My wifes 2008 CRV ex was the same way at 18k. - check your coolant levels!

Spark plugs in hand but the Gaskets just shipped from RI today. I will be going out of town this weekend so it looks like it will be the following weekend when I get to the 100K+ tune up. :P

My 08 was almost empty when I checked it last month too, so far it's okay.

I just changed mine for the first time a few weeks ago when I hit 60k. It was very dark. Next up is my MTF whenever it's not too hot to leave the house

All goodies in hand and I hit the 100k mark yesterday but it looks like I will be near 100.5k when I can get the fun part.
