brake fluid for tracking
Hi,
I've a jazz gd3 ausdm.
Do you guys recommend using DOT5+ fluids? Since in the service manual says DOT 5 is not compatible with my braking system.
What is your thoughts on that?
Regards,

Avoid DOT5 at all costs. The composition of DOT5 is way different compared to DOT3 and DOT4.
However, DOT5 and DOT5.1 are two different beasts.
The compatible brake fluids for our cars are DOT3 and DOT4...you could probably use DOT5.1 but don't quote me on that. DOT4 is sufficient for track use, although drive/brake hard enough and you could still induce fluid boil on it.

dot 5.1 would be fine, but FAR overkill... and you'd have to bleed the system several times over to eliminate as much of the previous fluid as humanly possible... you'd go through quite a lot of fluid, and money, in changing the system over to it...
a good dot 4, like ate's new sl6 or super blue/typ200, is all you would most likely ever need...
dot 4 is a solid upgrade and worthwhile imho, but 5.1 is a bit silly...

I've since changed to Motul's regular DOT4...just as good.
