Dragging if rear seat has passengers?

I own a 2007 fit sport and every time I have anyone in the back seat I hear a scraping noise going over bumps. My mom rides with me quite often and she probably weights 120 or so and I have nothing else in the car but there is a rubbing noise from the rear. Anyone else have this problem?

Never had a problem like that and I've had a lot more weight than your mom in the back (a few Ikea runs had be at least 300 lbs.). Maybe you should slow down over bumps! Seriously, look underneath with a flashlight; you should be able to see if anything has been scraping the ground. If not, try bouncing the car at each end to see if you can duplicate the noise. Could be any number of things, from worn/broken suspension parts to loose exhaust to wheel problems, etc.

I have had it on a lift at y work an can't see any scraping. Also the tires look good, I don't see and rub marks on them. Also I can bounce the car up and down and it doesn't make any noise. It happened when driving at any speed but it was more noticeable on the highway, like going over a bridge or something but even pulling into a driveway. I am a tech at a Toyota dealership so I have had it on a lift and I know what I was looking for but found nothing.

Is your car lowered? If not and you only scrap when going over a bumper. I think it might be your shocks that might have blown.

Go back to 2008 posts and you will find details and photos on replacing rear shocks with Monroe Air Lifts which will cure problem. Been working well on my fit since Jan 2008 and more than 20k miles.

I have had a noise from the rear of my 2007 when I turn hard to the left. It sounds like exhaust shielding is rubbing but I haven't found anything loose or rubbing. Can't make the noise when the car is still. Haven't taken the time to dig too deep into it. It is one of those noises that you only think about while driving. I run over th speed bumps at work and it doesn't make the noise. I guess I find it one of these days.
