Alternate tire size for 07 Fit Sport
Alternate tire size for 07 Fit Sport
I need new summer tires for my fit sport. It looks like Honda picked a wacky stock tire size and you can only get high performance tires.
I want to put on some low rolling resistance Michelins, but the closest size is 195 60 15. The speedo would only be slow about 3% and the highway rpms should drop a bit. Both good side effects as far as I am concerned.
Has anyone run this size on the Fit? Or any other size that you can get in a normal tire?

I was running 215 50 15 on my sport rims before I sold them. With that size, you're speedometer is barely off

Those tires fit fine (undropped) but you can expect a drop in mpg more than you would expect from the equivalent gear change. People here have had better luck and prices with 185/60x15's. Only 1% change and apparently no effect on mpg.
The Continental Conti Pro Contact is a low rolling resistance tire and available in the stock 195-55-15 size... I have some on my 2007 sport model but they are of older production and not said to be low rolling resistance.. They are much quieter, lighter in weight, and comfortable than the OEM Dunlops and can be rotated side to side which I'm not sure the later model can be but believe they can also. The ones I have are great on rural roads paved or otherwise.
Just looking at Tire Rack. The Conti's are low rolling resistance but they get pretty bad reviews.
I would have thought 195 90 15 would give better fuel economy than the stock tire. The rpms should drop a bit and they are a bit narrower.
I have a set of Michelin MXV 4s in this size for another car, so I might throw them on the fit and see how they do.

Although not technically listed as LRR tires these are reputed to help mileage some. they get pretty good reviews as well. Although still running the stock dunlops I've had excellent experience in the past with Yokohamas and plan on purchasing these next unless something better arises.
