Car randomly stopping when clutch pressed

Hey guys, I recently purchased an 08 manual fit sport and I've noticed something strange when driving around. I had a Honda mechanic look over my car before I bought it and he didn't find anything unusual, but after a week or two of driving, I have this problem where the car stops.

It happens maybe once or twice every week and the car stops when I'm holding down the clutch, usually when I'm slowing down towards a stop. The car just turns off and I usually don't realize it until I go to accelerate again. It seems to only happen within the first half a mile I start driving too.

Any ideas?

First, lets see if I understand. I think you mean the engine stops occasionally, usually within the first mile or two after starting after full lengthy shutdown, like overnite.. I would suspect the fast idle setting. When the engine is warming up the cold start circuit increases the idle speed so the engine won't stall when its slowing down to a stop.
Your Honda mechanic can check that cold start circuir idle setting.
Best I can do from here not having the car to check.
good luck.

Hmm. Is the cold start circuit something I can check or will I have to bring it to the mechanic?

yes, a mechanic with the proper diagnostic equipment is needed and thats more than likely a Honda dealer.
refer them to section 11 electronic throttle control
