Engine check light after installing aftermarket air filter?!
Hey guys, I stopped in at Canadian Tire last night and picked up an aftermarket FRAM air filter for $12. Slapped it in and drove home. I've installed OEM Honda air filters before. This morning, on my way to work, the check engine light is on.
Anyone ever seen that before? Once I got to work, I turned the car and then back on to see if the light went away, but it didn't. I have the old filter at home, I can throw it back in tonight. I figure that's a little odd though. The car feels 100% normal. Makes me wish I had an OBD-II sensor.

Maybe the difference in density of material from the OEM filter caused the CEL. Guessing it should go away after the changed environment is learned. If you're getting an OBD, check out the UltraGauge. There's a thread here:

I picked up an OBDII sensor and it kicked back P1172. The device indicates something to do with the HO2s (A/F sensor) circuit of range or gauge control module lost communication with LKAS.
I'll called my dealer. My entended warranty should cover it. I'll update the thread tomorrow with their findings.

It ended up being the oxygen sensor, completely unrelated to my air filter. They replaced it and upgraded the software on my car. Fortunately it was covered under my Honda Plus warranty
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help.
