07 Fit, weird battery mystery?

Hi!

New here, and Full Disclosure: My Fit has been brutalized. Rear-ended, T-Boned, Side-swiped, the wheels were stolen off it and then the city dragged it, sans wheels off to the impound (thank you Detroit for punishing victims of crimes!).

Point is, this thing has been through the ringer.

It is definitely the best car I've ever owned. But the past year or so, it's been having... issues. The tiny battery has always been an issue. Leave a light on here, listen to the radio there, and you've got a dead battery.

But now... now it's a crap-shoot. I'd say about 50% of the time, I can start my car. With my friend's borrowed portable battery pack it's up to about 90%, but even then, sometimes the car just won't start. All signs pointed to the 5-year-old battery being due for a change.

$137 later (wish someone had told me about that), I had a brand new battery and the same exact problem. Before I could get it to a mechanic, I went under the hood with a multimeter and sequentially yanked fuses until I couldn't see any draw.

"Backup", a 10A fuse seemed to be the culprit. Pull it, and bye-bye current going through the multimeter. Bye-bye radio and power locks as well, but I don't lock up (one smashed window is enough to learn that lesson) so it was all good.

Only it wasn't.

The mechanic decided it was simply a problem with the connection. And so the wires and connectors were replaced.

Two days later, same problem.

I'm HOPING someone here has some suggestion, because the mechanic can't figure it out, and I can't figure it out, and I'm left with a car that will reliably start several days in a row, and then require jumps literally every time I start it the day after that.

Back Up means back up lights.
I would say you had some wiring damaged, when you were rear ended.
A pinched wiring bundle will case a current drain.

Try checking your ignition coils and spark plugs. Mine still does struggles to start on a occasion but less often now.
