Exclamation Disturbing noises

Hello all,

I know I may very well be the 1,000,000th person to post about this, but it seems a bit abnormal. I've been worried about these noises I've been hearing lately. My car has 132,000 miles (bought with 130,000 and I believe the previous owner put mostly hwy miles) and recently had an oil change. I haven't really done any maintenance since the car was purchased used early this year (appx. January) other than a drop in K&N filter and an oil change. In addition to a sort of "knocking" type sound coming from what seems like the bottom/middle of the engine-bay, my engine makes a very disturbing sound around 2800 rpms. In an attempt to describe the sound...I can't. It just sounds nasty. I feel like I shouldn't be hearing what sounds like each piston moving. It's like the pistons are in a tin can instead of the engine; I don't know. Anyways, after a cold startup and short drive back to my house from a friends I took this video of the engine bay (Apologies for the erratic motion I wasn't really focusing on the video quality as much as the sound ) and you can hear the "knocking" type sound coming from the engine, as well as what I think may an injector tick? Should I check my coil packs and spark plugs? I've heard the third coil pack is a common problem in fits and maybe this is why i'm experiencing weird things. Or maybe a valve adjustment? I don't know guys i'm sort of new to cars, i'm only 16, but I know general information and i'm getting ready to go to school full time to study somewhere in the automotive field so please, have at it! Thanks for any consideration and responses guys

I'm one of the few who have a disturbing noise as well. I tried listening to your video and it said that it's a private video.

Interesting. I really hate the noise it bothers me. It honestly pushed me into getting an exhast so I wouldn't hear the engine. Ahh sorry bout the video I'll fix that right now

Oh, and there are a couple of other threads about the noise and I believe someone recently had there engine replaced under warranty because of it. If I remember correctly it was diagnosed as wrist pin knock or something.

Woah, interesting. I don't think I have any warranty on this 2008 so a motor replacement doesn't seem like much of an option for me although that would be nice! :P so what do you think I should do about this....nothing? Yikes

If I remember correctly the guy who had the motor replacement had just purchased the car and the motor was covered under an extended warranty.

What should you do? I don't know. I've been driving mine like this for at least a couple of years with no problems. I thought about having a used motor installed but who knows, maybe this one will have a normal life expectancy. I decided that I'm better off waiting.

In the video are you talking about that knocking sound? Because I have had that knocking sound when I first got my fit and it was brand new with 0.2 Miles on it.

Interesting. I've been told by many to disregard it and just drive haha I hate having that attitude but based on everything i've read and heard, that's the only thing I can do about it Hopefully it'll last! Thinking about one day trading towards an s2k or something, maybe, maybe not.

Yes as well as the injector tick. I've heard the knocking noise ever since I drove the car for the first time, but that was the first time I heard the injector tick.

The injectors are very noisy on the Fit. Mine's an 09 with 43k miles and it makes the same click from the injectors. Mine doesn't have the knocking noise but it's pretty common from amount of threads people made.

The video and searching out the source of the noise on my car with a stethoscope has me convinced that the EGR valve is the source of the noise..

You wouldn't be able to handle the sound of an old Harley Shovel Head with a long duration cam and solid lifters if it was idling a block away from you...

LOL!

Every time I ride my Harley I think, "Is that a new noise? Did it always do that?"

And I love it!

After riding the hell out one when escorting a very long funeral procession during rush hour traffic in Dallas I thought I had destroyed a mid 70s Electra-Glide.. The clutch was slipping, brakes, wouldn't work, the hydraulic lifters were stuck and the pistons were slapping... After riding it very gently for just a couple of minutes it quieted down and worked just fine.. The later model big twins with aluminum jugs don't make as much mechanical noise as the old ones with cast iron jugs do.

The EGR valve, the EGR passage cover with the vacuum hose to the PCV is where I was most able to distinctly hear the noise with the stethoscope... It was loudest at the EGR valve... The EGR system and vacuum lines running from one side to the other is what is confusing when trying to locate the source of the noise but it is loudest at the EGR valve...
