Got this purple Fitty 08', what should i do now?

Hi guys, i bought this purple fit 08' M/T few moths ago,

i decided to put some modification on my baby.

First i want to get JDM taillights

I heard people have trouble with installing it by themselves.

Second thing is is want to get some new rims

maybe 205/40/17 or 195/45/16

anyways, i have some concerns.

if i put 17inch rims on it, would it rub?

or should i do something with the suspension first.

just to make the ride stiffer. but tbh i dun want to lower it

And third i want to get a new exhaust system.

I want some performance but not too loud,

i dun want to get pulled over anymore

way toooo many tickets already LOL

Hello...

First of all and if memory serves me right, the JDM tail lights are a semi-direct fit for the GD. Only reason I say semi, is the wiring harness may have to be "tugged" or "pulled" more just so the connectors can reach to the tail lights. Again, that's going by memory from what I've read here on the forum.

Secondly, in my honest opinion I'd run a 16x7 wheel with an offset between +42 to +45 or higher with 205/45R16 tires. Running 205/40R17s on a 17 inch wheel leaves very little sidewall to absorb the initial shock from bumps and doesn't protect the wheel as well due to having a thinner side wall than the 205/45R16 (again in my opinion). Offset (in combination of wheel width and tire size) is more of a factor in the case of tire rub.

Run a 205 tire on a wheel with an offset of +40 you could possibly rub at stock height with a load in the back... Run it on a wheel with an offset of +35 you will more than likely rub since the wheel is pushed 5mm away from the car's center line.

Thirdly (Is that even a word?), if you want to change up the feel of the suspension there are lowering springs out there that offer a fairly minimal drop such as Swift, Progress, and Tanabe (their GF210s) but the car will be lowered a minimum of 1 inch up front and up to 1.5 in back depending on the spring you go with out of those three for a fair price. If you want to retain stockish height but still change a stiffer ride, get coil overs. Their not cheap but depending on their spring and damper rates, can stiffen up the ride.

Fourthly, if you're looking for a subtle exhaust check out Honda's HFP muffler offered for our GD chassis Fit or Tanabe's Medallion exhaust. Both are very quiet for an axle back when cruising and have a nice exhaust note when in the throttle... they do not produce a raspy exhaust much like most people's Pepboy's/Autozone special muffler.

As for what to do first, its your car... You choose what you want to do and whatever you feel that you need to do since you're the one that will likely be paying for it and living/driving with it. All we can do is really provide incite. ^.^ Hope this helps.

Ah, I love the colour, congratulations!

I installed my LED tail lights myself, took longer than I thought with a little hit and miss here and there, but we got it done and had no issues.

I can relate to getting too many tickets too ....
