08 sport with high pitch whirling sound heard from inside car while idle and driving

I just got an 2008 sport and I can hear this high pitch whirling sound from inside the car. it sound almost like a computer fan but higher pitch. I read somewhere it might be the seals on the windshield not properly installed but I can hear it while the car is in park idling as well. the sound get louder while driving and I can toggle the sound when I switch on the headlights on. Any insight to this issue would be appreciated. thank you.

wow maybe a bad ground in the electrical system causing your speakers do you have the aux jack and if you do is the wire always connected, cause it could be the cable

im going to go with speaker/grouding gissue as well.

you can eleimiate windshield noise since it happens when stopped.
my next guess would of been tranny noise/problem.
but since you say you can toggle it on/off with the headlights, leads me to beleive its an electrical/current problem.

I agree with the others--it is most likely something in the electrical system. I would guess that perhaps there's some AC noise from the alternator getting through the radio and coming out your speakers. If so, it could be a few different things: it could be your battery not making a good connection (or just plain getting old). It could be the filtering capacitors in your radio dying. Or, I suppose, it could be an alternator or related fault.

I'd probably check the battery connections first, since it's easy and inexpensive to do that. Beyond that, it's down to the usual electrical troubleshooting things.

Another thought--if you start the car with the hand brake engaged, does the sound come immediately or only when you release the hand brake? If it's quiet until the handbrake is released, maybe the electrical noise originates from the DRL system.

Does the noise go away when the stereo is off? Is there an Aftermarket stereo in the car? Ground loop is usually the culprit in situations like this, especially when an aftermarket stereo is in the mix.
