High pitched whsitle sound when accelerating ?
So I have an 07 Honda fit with 109k. This car has caused me quite the amount of stress the past few months given all that I've had to fix and I'm ight about to sell this darn thing.
so over the past few months I've noticed when accelerating at certain speed most like 40 and up or when I'm accelerating hard on the highway there's this high pitched whistle sound almost as if there were a supercharger in the car but there's not.
Sometimes it also tends to sound like a metal fan spinning or like an airplane sound.
Its hard to say.
It's not constant . Mechanic couldn't pin point it.
Its pretty random but I've noticed it a bit more (but I may just be paying more attention to it)
My main concern is the transmission because that's a pretty penny and I'll sell it asap.
Doesn't make the sound during neutral or when reversing.
Any thoughts?

Can you throw a recording app on your phone and record it for us? I know if I really give it the beans and run from idle to redline I'll hear an induction sound that I actually find pretty sweet, but that I could see you interpreting as a whine/whistle.

Actually brought it to a mechanic who specializes in transmissions and what not . He heard it for .5 seconds and it disappeared .said could be a wheel bearing but it's a guess.
Also noticed that from first to second gear sometimes is a little hard. But minor. Is that normal for the fits? I've always noticed that they're somewhat jerky?

If you can give us a recording we can probably give you a better guess. If it's a wheel bearing, it's going to keep making the noise even if you're not accelerating, e.g. if you're cruising at a constant speed on the highway.
As far as the first to second gear shift, I haven't noticed it being any different from other manual transmission vehicles. Just in case this is your first manual transmission vehicle, they're going to tend to feel a little jerkier to drive than an automatic, but your skill/mood/etc. will determine how you drive at any given time (jerky vs smooth).

I apologize for not mentioning . It's actually and automatic. Although it's been a little jerky since I've had it. Some mechanics say it shifts nice some say it's harder but a lot of them tell me they don't usually work on fits so they don't know their mannerisms .
Also I haven't seen many complaints on the transmissions either. As for the noise it's hard to capture since it seems to do it on its own terms lol.

Hmm. The first thing I'd do is make sure the trans fluid is topped off. If it hasn't been changed yet, I'd imagine it's probably due. If it's still jerky after that, I'd just drive it as-is unless it's really bad (like giving you whiplash on shifts and/or chirping the tires), as having someone tear into it to figure out what's up would probably cost as much as just buying a new trans.
