Weird sound front

I have been haunted a sound like 'kluk kluk' from the right front side of my gd1. After a long hours checking where was the sound coming from, in the end my mechanic and I found its location. So, I changed my lower arm and stabilizer link and the 'kluk kluk' sound is gone. I am happy for that. Next, I drive my car for the whole last week and I did notice there is another sound coming from right front side as well. But this time the sound is very light and not too loud as before. Need to off my radio then I could hear the sound. The sound only can be heard when I hit any holes on the road with high speed like 100kmh. My mechanic suspect my mounting absorber caused the problem. My question is, does the mounting absorber produces any sound if it has problem?

Fits and Jazz have a small problem with wearing out the strut cap rubber coatings on the cap that goes on the top side of the strut in the enginebay.

Put your wheels straight ahead pop the hood and look at the top of the strut where it comes up through the body.

Just below the nut holding the top part of the strut on there is a round part about 2" in diameter with a rubber "cover" on it with ribs on it.

When the car is level with wheels straight ahead there should be very little clearance between the bottom of the rubber cover and the body.

If the clearance is larger like OVER 1/4 inch or so you will get a clunking when going over bumps.

The part I'm talking about is called the "damper mounting base" in this photo.

You must use IE to see the photos. Click in the small grey boxes to see them.

to see this part click the "exploded View" blue link right at the top.

Thanks loudbang. Is it similar to stabilizer bar bush or absorber mounting?

Very interesting (and clearly stated), loudbang.

Got a page number in the Service Manual for this . . . ?

Again, thanks.

It's just the "cover" on top of the strut that prevents it from falling back into the wheelwell through the hole in the body and cushion the body from taking a beating from strut movement.

I changed the damper mounting base unfortunately still hear the sound if I hit potholes on the road with high speed. Not really high speed even if I drive about 60 - 70 kmh still hear the sound. My Mugen Sport Absorber is functioning well, except one thing, I notice my coil spring does not has its rubber sleeve. Anyone here using Mugen Sport Absorber/Suspension? Does your coil spring has rubber sleeve?

We've seen that here but surely it would result in knocking even if thed clearance is less than 1/4", likely if its loose at alll. Would using a metal ewasher or two under the strut nut tighten the cup into the body?

No there is a shoulder on the strut top to prevent over tightening. I saw somewhere where a guy bought new tops that were cheap then tore off the rubber part and glued it underneath the original cap to take up the extra space.

Thats what I was describing, washers under the old cap & between the body cavity. I'd be tempted to rivet them rather than gluing.
