GI: A custom air box?

A place somewhat local to me has made and does make some awesome intake boxes. You might have heard of them Level7Motorsports.

Here are some examples:
EG

DC

s2k

I have talked to the owner before about doing/offering new boxes for new chassis, my old TL and my current other project. He said he would just need a mock up car, which I'm more than willing to let him barrow le Fit for a few days. Id be interested in it going up and being able to draw air from a rogue scoop possible, or something a bit different than the normal intakes. For more info on their products and other projects look here.

I think we should get a group of people together who are interested, promised/deposit down, ect before approaching him with the idea.

This is probably the wrong section for this but Im not a vendor just have a small connection with someone that might benefit the fit scene.

What is awesome about them except for the looks? Does anything else happen if you put one in?

Aside from bling.. what's the benefit to drawing hot air from behind the radiator with a giant metal heatsink around your airfilter?

Are you suggesting that I might be a bit cynical sometimes?

I completely agree....

But would pulling air from the "cowl vent" so to speak like the air to air intercooler from the Kraftwerks high boost kit make any appreciable difference? Only one short turn that way into the throttle body....

Hmm and it seems they do offer a service to line the box with a DEI heat shielding product... Which could be anything from the "gold" tape to silicone spray or exhaust wrap LOL If it works though ::shrug::

Yes, it's refreshing.

I'm just trying to figure out why the box is so damn big?

I saw that, and then I have to ask for what reason is the filter enclosed? Is it for raccoon protection?

I am honestly guessing bling... Looks kinda like some of the ARC intake boxes. BUT with the heat shielding option, maybe it could effect IAT's?
