Coils
Hello,
I have a 08 Sport with 208k miles. Having trouble with repeated failures of coil on #1 cylinder. Replaced it twice within last two months. I drive about 5k a month. I used iridium plugs and dialectric grease. I do run regular gas, premium would kill me! Car has been great otherwise. I did recently have the valves adjusted. Probably didn't need the coils/plugs, but changed at 100k interval out of habit. Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks!

coil
Coil still looks like new, just stops working. Number one cylinder has had two failed coils in last 10k miles. Thought it was due to cheap parts, but may be another cause. I did not see anything unusual in plug hole, but did not have a mirror handy. Plug seems ok.

There are really a ton of threads on here regarding coil/plug/valve adjust issues. If I recall correctly, one coil going bad can cause additional drops in voltage in the other coils causing premature wear. Try swapping it over onto another cylinder. It may end up you need to replace all 4 not just the one failing...

For the two hundredth twenty seventh time?
Fits are not maintence free; they do require at least new plugs and coil. First, change gas supplier and add a can of injector cleaner paks about every 50,000 miles. Do the cheap and eassy things first.
1. Take your Fit to a aftermarket autoparts store like AutoZone, Oreilly's, or Discount uto parts and most will check your OBDII codes for free. Replace the bads parts.
2. If thats not getting codes for faults replace the spark plugs tho you should have gotten code for plugs.
3. reset valve clearances.
4. Have ECU and emissions devices like EGR valve checked.
