Help! cel after valve clearance adjusment

Hey folks. Just finished my 3rd valve clearance adjustment on my 07 (130k) and it went off without a hitch as usual. That is until I started the car and immediately saw that I had a cel. All hoses and connectors are plugged in as they should be. The only thing that I can think of that I did differently this time was not having disconnected my negative battery cable at all. Could this be my problem?

Bill

Don't know the code yet as I don't have a reader. Disconnected the negative for a while and then drove the car after reconnecting it. No cel as of yet. will see how things go and get a code if it returns.

Thanks,

Bill

I'm a bold risk-taker, living my life "on the edge"...so I don't disconnect my battery before a valve lash adjustment.

Haven't had a CEL yet.

+++++++++++++++++

(Last time I cleaned the throttle-body on the V, however, I forgot to reconnect one electrical plug. My ScanGauge could not reset the code, either...had to wait many drive cycles for it to go away. )

I almost always disconnect the negative after having dropped a wrench on someones starter years ago and having the wrench hit the positive starter lead with one end and ground out on the other end. It wasn't a pretty sight. The wrench turned red hot and his battery was bulging. Believe it or not, All he needed after that was a new battery.

Any way, Disconnecting the negative cable was just a last ditch attempt as getting rid of my cel. I can't figure out why it would make a difference either but it seems to have fixed my problem for now. The other thing I did was disconnect and reconnect all of the electrical plugs that I had messed with for the valve adjustment.

That is odd.... You should still throw a reader on it to pull the stored codes and see what it was!

Just returned from Autozone and there was no code stored. I guess it's now safe to assume that all codes are cleared after having the battery disconnected for a period of time.
