Ok folks, my 09 fit is acting up. It has 150K miles and has been lagging on me lately. When I take off from a stop, it seems to not want to go. Like I put my foot to the floor and there is a delay of power for about 1 maybe 2 seconds. This is a lot of time when you are pulling into traffic.

Once I am moving, no issues. Climbs to 80mph no problem. passing on the interstate is not an issue.

I know it needs a valve adjustment, but could that be the issue at all?

 

Sounds like a sensor. It could be quite a wide range of things, but my first guess would be a bad Mass ari flow sensor. Start with testing that.

If the MAF is good, check the throttle body to see if its sticking, or moving slowly.

It is probably also throwing a trouble code, even if the CEL is not on yet. Might be worth having it hooked to a code scanner.

 

It was due for valve adjustment at 100K. This very well could be part of the problem.

How about spark plugs?

 

Thanks for the ideas... planning on doing a valve adjust this weekend. I changed the plugs and 1 coil pack about 20,000 miles ago. Looks like to do the valve adjust I have to remove the throttle body and Air flow sensor so I will check those and clean what I can. Throw in a new air filter while I'm at it.
