Exclamation Idle problems on 08 fit

Hi i have a 2008 Honda Fit Automatic 5 speed 72K miles.
For the past year i have had problems with the car idling rough, this normally happens when the air conditioning is on or the headlights are on. it usually happens when stopped at a stop light. There has also been instances where i warm the engine up in the morning until the cold temperature light go away and as i reverse it stall or almost stalls when switching into drive. this problem also happens when stopping for a few miles. I am a mechanic and i would appreciate any and all help, and I would like to thank you all in advance.

Have a nice day

Welcome aboard. There are quite a few threads here that addresses your symptoms. Take some time and poke around the Fit DIY section. Here's one for starters: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...t-started.html

Good luck!

Many options on things that may be wrong. You may want to check your ignition coils/spark plugs/etc. If that fails then you can get a valve adjustment, that fixed my idle issues.

Valve adjustment! Someone should make a sticky for this because it's such a common problem with the 07-08 Fits. It's always the coilpacks or the valves.

From your description, it's probably the valves. Especially if you're experiencing more problems on a cold start than a warm engine.

So many issues with this. My 2008 Sport M/T is in the shop today getting two coil packs replaced. There are several good threads all about this same issue, so you can look at their symptoms and match them up. Really helpful posts so far.

FYI - changing two of my coilpacks didn't work, so I am going to change the other two along with the spark plugs. If that doesn't work, I am going to go ahead with the valve adjustments that so many of you have mentioned. This has been so frustrating! The Honda dealer said that he hadn't heard of any of these problems before (I had to hold back a laugh). I suggested he start "googling..."

Do the valve adjustment first and save money on coilpacks until it needs them. Your symptoms are exactly like all the others that were "fixed" with a valve clearance adjustment.

Coilpack problems are USUALLY missing at speed not idle.

Any idea what a mechanic would charge for a valve adjustment? I haven't checked around here yet, but I was wondering if you had any ideas ahead of time, so I can be a little more educated before I call...
