How Do I Replace Gear Shift Boot on a Jazz?

Hi,

Just got a 2003 Jazz 1.4 SE. The rubber gear shift boot / gaiter is all torn so I have a nice new leather one.

How do I remove the silver ring around the gear shift? Do I need to remove the whole center console?

thanks!

Donaidh

Yes, remove center console....

Yes, remove center console....
Unscrew shift knob; Then 2 skews in the back, then 2 clips in the front (both driver and passenger sides), then remove console. Flip over and you'll see the boot ring held by three screws; Remove and install new boot--reverse the above an you should be good to go. GOOD LUCK!

And there is a "pop in clip" under the console that you can feel resisting pulling up on the console. Just so you know to expect it ...it's not stuck just that clip holding it to the floor. Just keep pulling until it pops out.

And make it the first thing you pop back into place when you put the console back down where it goes.

Excellent, thanks for great replies! Will tackle this tonight. Sounds straightforward now that I have the knowledge. Thanks again!
