DIY oil change and MM codes

Hello. I do my own oil changes and fluid changes. Last time I did my oil change, I did it at 20 pr 30% oil life on the maintenance minder. After, I reset the MM to display 100%. However, my limited understanding of the MM tells me that only at 15% or less oil life, the MM wil give me the maintenance codes related to my car. Does that mean that I have to let the oil life drop to 15% every time to get the maintenance codes? If so, Is there anyway to know the maintenance code before at above 15% before resetting the oil life?

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

There is a way to get it to display the upcoming code beforehand; the details should be in the owner's manual. Off the top of my head, I think it involved holding the mpg-o-meter selecto button in for a few seconds while on the oil life remaining page with the oil life between 50% and 15%...but my memory may well be faulty on the details.

That might be it but its definitely not in the manual. Does anyone know?

Anyway, I just got down to 15% and I got an a 2 which I believe is oil + filter. Does anyone really just change the oil and not the filter? I figure a filter is only 5$, why not change it every time?

No way I'd change oil and skimp on the filter. But that's just me. What does your gut instinct say?

Here's some more reading stuff on the MM: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...ce-so-far.html
