New GD3 bulletin coming

Just thought that I would give all you GD3 drivers out there a heads up on the new service bulletin that is coming out regarding the master window switch. This is new as of 6-25-13

"
Basic Problem
In 2010, American Honda conducted campaign R28, S/B 10-008: Safety Recall: Power Window Master Switch May Not Work. Honda has determined that the repair procedure outlined in S/B 10-008 is insufficient in preventing water intrusion into the power window master switch. If water permeates the switch, it may lead to impaired function of the switch, smoke, and melting, and it could result in fire.

The Repair
All affected vehicles require inspection of the power window master switch. Vehicles that are judged OK as per S/B 13-052 will require further action at a later time when updated switches are available. Vehicles that are judged as no good will require immediate replacement of the power window master switch with reworked parts, and will not require further action. "

sorry, but I find this very confusing. So let's simplify.
1. Is it a new Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) coming out or an actual recall to follow the first open recall (#10-008)?
2. If an actual second recall on the window switch, is it stating that the window switch skirt that was installed is insufficient and further action is needed?
3. If just a TSB, does it mean that those who received the skirt will need to bring it back in for additional work?
4. I actually don't know what Service Bulletin S/B 13-052 is or does or has to do with the first recall (#10-008). I can only assume it is the new Bulletin # since it starts with a 13.

Thanks for any clarification you can provide.

I find this TSB very interesting because as a GD3 owner, all the (minor) problems I've encountered are electrical. Sounds like a continuation of that theme.

Yeah... I'm not planning on doing that recall anytime soon.

1) Yes, this is a new recall that replaces 10-008.
2) Yes, the skirt is insufficient.
3) Yes, if you had 10-008 done you will need to be re-inspected and if it's holding up a new part will be installed at a later date. If it is showing damage the part will be ordered then and replaced.
4) Yes, 13-052 is the new bulletin number that is replacing 10-008.

Thanks for that x4x5x1x. I wonder why the plastic "deflector skirt" is insufficient. I too won't be flying into my dealer to get this redone any time soon. I'm hoping this doesn't involve tearing open the door panel given all the redirected rain water issues we have with the GD. I think they just pop open the top control panel.

Just don't open your driver's window when it's raining...and wipe off any water from when you open the door in bad weather.

Any possibility that this new recall will be extended to other Honda products? The ol' CR-v had the deflector skirt installed about 16 months ago...

If this is to fix a known issue and it doesn't cost you anything, other than time, why wouldn't you get it done?

I haven't heard of them extending it to cover the CR-V......yet. Hopfully it was good enough on the CR-V to fix that particular problem.

I'm a tech at a Honda dealer so I'm not doing the recall until the updated parts are actually in.

NPR Report

They reported this recall on NPR yesterday, and added some information I am not seeing (maybe I missed it)here.

NPR said Honda is advising owners to park their vehicles outside of enclosed spaces until the recall is performed.
