It happened again!! ughhh

So I always thought it might happen again and it did. Two raccoon's decided to jump into my car window and piss everywhere in the car. I cant even get near my car and it's driving my dogs insane. Does ANYONE have ANY advice on how to keep these lil critters away from my car. This is getting a little ridiculous.
Thank you.

Regards, Sean

Chain the dog to the Fit? I'd think there would be some sort of spray or powder you can spray around the car. I've got neighborhood cat problems (pooping in my flowerbed), so sprinkled some cayenne pepper all around. Worked for me.

Or think about calling animal control to trap those critters.

Ok, surely they didn't lift up the handle on the doors and let themselves in to use the rest room.

1. Keep the windows up
2. try dryer sheets. I hear that mice and rodents hate the smell of dryer sheets; I use them around my shed to keep mice from spending the winter in my shed.
3. go buy several gallons of the Nature's Miracle Advanced (orange gallon container). It works miracles on cat urine and should do the same on bandit urine.
4. do what my family and I used to do after hunting; put a deer's head down near the car. The racoons show up around 10:30 every night. Nail one of them (only one of them) with buckshot. Let the others go back to where they came from and spread the word not to mess with you any longer. Problem solved.

Burntz, No they did not open the door handles HAHA! I have to keep my windows rolled about half way down from the previous "incident" from these lil bastards. Ive tried just about everything from then to get rid of the smell. It makes me gag every time I drive.

Sorry for your troubles. In addition to the Nature's Miracle found at any pet store and probably at WalMart, also try WalMart's Pet stain carpet solution. I use it all the time at home and it works great. Use it in a rented carpet cleaner from your grocery store or put it in your personal carpet cleaner. There has to be some good neutralizing solution out there for you aside from pouring tomato juice all over the seats like one does when a dog gets hit by a skunk.

Yeah ive tried the tomato juice in my car and now my seats have a red tint to them and it still didnt help with the smell. Im debating on just selling the car but im not sure if anyone would want to buy it after sitting in it and nearly throwing up, you know?

Try this stuff. NO JOKE only thing that ever removed "those kinds of odors" from car upholstery for me: ITW Professional Brands l Dymon Brand l Enzymes & Odor Control l LIQUID ALIVEŽ Enzyme Digestant, Stain Remover & Deodorizer

I got a bench seat from the junkyard for my old Ranger pickup that something probably died on/in I was able to get it completely STANK free with this stuff. It also works on AC systems in cars that have gotten funky

Tomato juice does nothing at all for skunk scent on dogs or in cars. It is an "old wives" tale from old wives who think it is funny for YOU to suffer. Guaranteed skunk scent deodorant for dogs----------

1 cup hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
1/2 tsp. Dawn dish-washing detergent

Lather thoroughly with above and rinse- keep out of eyes.

The above makes the dog bearable in the house, but another wash after the above with regular dog shampoo completes the job.

Skunk scent is a combination of oil and acid- it causes painful burns on skin. The Dawn breaks up he oil carrier of the scent, and the baking soda and peroxide neutralize the acid and the smell. I doubt that this will work on car interiors, but wouldn't know. Skunks don't spray my car interiors, just the faces of my dogs. And the dogs just NEVER learn not to charge a skunk.

If that doesn't work there are companies that clean up crime scenes and other serious environmental messes (I used one after a fire). You could ask them what they'd charge for a car interior.

I have used this product for cat and dog urine...
Un-Duz-It.
Un-Duz-It Bio-Enzymatic Pet Odor Eliminator

Problem is you have to pull the entire interior to gain access to all the carpet and upholstery.

Okay listen closely bro. When I flew CRJ's, if and when someone vomited on the seat/carpet you'd sprinkle fresh ground coffee over the soiled area. More on top the most densely covered area. The grounds also absorb the moisture. Over a few hours just vac then clean whats left. Trust me. If it work in a corked up pressurized airplane, it will in your car. Get the darkest roast for the strongest coffee to pull out the heavy odor of urine. The smell will only get worse due to the bacteria growing in it just like b.o. in a shirt thats sat a week b4 washing. Sorry i know its morbid but very descriptive.

This maybe a time to switch to leather if nothing gets the smell completely out. the 2nd set of raccoon's marked over the previous two's scent. If you cant learn, they'll def be a 3rd set to leave their gift.

I was turned on to this stuff by a funeral home guy. At the time my parents were traveling a lot and some animal got under their house and died.
When they came home you couldn't stay in the house. They paid a guy to go under there and get it out.
I opened the vents and used tops off of plastic tubs to hold the enzymes and floor dryers to blow across the trays forcing vapors under the house. It worked like a champ.
Raccoons carry parasites that can make you very sick. Be careful .

If you must leave your windows down, have you tried using a pet guard? I know they're supposed to keep pets inside the car but might be worth a shot
