Hard shifts

How is your project working out? I have the same problem with my 2007 Fit with 75K of city driving. Replaced both clutch master and slave. Have a firmer pedal now than when it was new. Still hard to shift and grids sometimes. Going to replace the last and only item other than the clutch next. The hydraulic rubber hose between the steel lines. Had to order it from Honda so won't have any results till this weekend. If that isn't it, looks like we are going to have to remove the transmission and put a pressure plate, disc and bearing in it. The only reason I'm trying the hose replacement is years ago I had a rubber hydraulic brake line that wasn't leaking fluid but was allowing air in through it. We will see. Update me on your process too if you would. Later, Barf

Held off on the master due the separate CDV issue. Did your fluid have the little bits in it? I suspect they are particles of the seals on whatever is failing or rust from the hard lines. Did you replace the CDV? I have a fresh master and a new custom made line from Techna Fit that bypasses the CDV ready to go in as soon as I get time. Maybe tomorrow.

The CDV banjo fitting was filled with rusty looking goo so I had my hopes up. New master, new line from master straight to slave and all new fluids. Bleed as best I could with my pump. Same issue thought I do like the way the clutch feels after CDV delete. Will try and bleed again just in case when my son gets home from school but Im not hopeful.

Anything else before I decide to do the clutch?

Anyone in Columbia with a lift I can pay to help do the job? I cant afford the dealer right now and its my only car.

Not sure I get your point. It sounds like you are making fun of me when I have done nothing but systematically work the problem and reported back to the group. Unlike most posters who ask for help and then never report back how they fixed the problem my posts will end up being useful to others in the future. The only work I did that probably didn't need to be done was the shifter though having had an issue with shift linkage in the past(which is what this feels like) that project was also sound especially in light of the low cost and time input. The condition of the hydraulics warranted all of it being removed and replaced. I tried your test again just a few minutes ago in 1st and 2nd with the same result. Car rolls down the hill when I press the clutch. No throwout bearing issue unless I misunderstood your post. No other advice has been given that I didn't try and respond to so your less than useful snarky comment is out of line.

Noticed the RPM jump from 3500 to 4000 while accelerating onto the highway this morning with no increase in speed and was able to make it repeat. Tonight was careful to avoid hard accelerations to try and make it last a little longer. At stop lights in 1st gear if i take my foot off the brake the car starts to inch forward.

Cruise control was working this morning but now is not. Could this be related to a failing clutch?

Expecting a quote from a local shop in the morning to pull the tranny and replace the clutch.

The roll test showed you that is was not a hydraulic problem it is something else.

Well it turned out to be in order of wear the pilot bearing, throwout bearing and the pressure plate. The bearings felt like they had rocks in them. Cruise was not working because when I installed the new master I had the rod about 1mm too short and the pedal was not reaching the switch. Did the rear seal while they had the tranny out as well. Smooth as silk now. Love the short shift. The CDV delete is taking some getting used to but I like it.
