play in the shifter
hey you guys ive had my MT fit for less than a week and i notice that the shifter is getting more and more play in it. anybody notice this as well?

your'e wrong because all the clutch does is engage and disengage power from the engine and the transmission it has nothing to do with the shifter being a little loose. it's not loose but like you can put your finger on top of it and shake it around. it moves about 1/4 in in all directions

All my M/T cars i have/had owned are exactly what you describe (on neutral). To me it's normal.

did i already use that joke on this forum? dang! i crack myself up on that one every time. sorry. yeah its normal. its just breaking in. hondas eventually lose that "solid" feel after a couple thousand miles. nicest clutch feel i ever felt was on my old svt focus (same trans as a miniS) and a bmw clutch.

Anytime you have linkage there can be some play. If it is 1/4" as you state there is nothing wrong with that, but if it is somewhere near the amount of play that there is in neutral then you may want to have it looked at.
